It’s hard to predict these matchups but I will take a shot.
No common opponents for Placer and Buhach. The teams of the CCC haven’t fared very well in the playoffs the last few years when matched up with teams from the Northern part of the section, but Buhach does have an early season win over Edison who gave Folsom all they could handle last week. They also got blown out last year in the playoffs 55-0 by Capital. Have they improved that much?
Placer won a very competitive league and fared pretty well in a tough non league schedule, nearly pulling off a win versus a very good Cardinal Newman team. Not sure how many teams Buhach has seen that runs the Wing T with the precision that Placer does. But for some reason my gut tells me Placer wins this one by 2+ touchdowns.
Capital and Manteca have a common opponent in Vista Del Lago, who Capital beat in a defensive battle 21-7 while Manteca beat them in a shootout 39-35. Manteca offense has averaged almost 60 points a game the last 6 weeks while Capital defense is giving up less than 9 over that same stretch. Classic high flying offense vs clamping defense battle and something has to give. They say defense wins championships and I think Capital can score just enough to win 26-21.
