That overtime win by Del Oro may explain their somewhat lackluster showing today at the Sheldon Block Party. I’m sure they’re better than what I saw today.

Hmmm…. Maybe…. but I’ve never been known for defense…. or offense…. or any ability to walk and chew gum at the same time…. :)

Anyway…. Of the other times I saw Del Oro live, I thought they played well, but lost. Today, they just didn’t have it.

Friday's Schedule:

Del Oro at Whitney

Rocklin looks like the team to beat this year as the improved to 22-0 with a tight victory over GB 79-75. I think Rocklin is a good team that is very deep but there record is a little misleading because they don't have a real signature win. I do think they will make a deep run in D2 but look at the others in SJS D2 that could easily knock them off. Jesuit and CC have both played much tougher non-league.
Del Oro (lost in OT 93-91)
Jesuit
Capital Christian
Vanden
St Marys

The bottom of the league is Granite Bay and Oak Ridge. Whitney is a wildcard that will be middle of pack. Folsom is down this year and likely will finish 3rd.

SJS playoff divisional placement criteria:
  • 8. A league champion (outright or is the No. 1 seed by criteria) must play at or above the level of its league competition.
So if Rocklin or Del Oro wins the SFL they will be moved to D1 for SJS playoffs

Folsom with a strong second half to beat Oak Ridge last night in an entertaining game with a really good crowd. Folsom has some nice young players that are getting some great experience this season.

Rocklin had to come from behind to beat Whitney 72-68.

DO couldn’t throw it in the ocean & lost to GB 53-47. DO shot 24% 2FG, 11% 3FG, and 56% FT and yet they were down 2 in the last minute and had to foul. They also played without Jake Williams who was on an official visit for football.

Updated SFL standings:
Rocklin 5-0 (23-0)
Del Oro 3-2 (17-6)
Folsom 3-2 (14-8)
Whitney 2-3 (14-9)
Granite Bay 1-4 (7-15)
Oak Ridge 1-4 (13-9)

Only a one game week on Friday for the SFL

Rocklin at Del Oro
Granite Bay at Folsom
Oak Ridge at Whitney

Agreed. They are young and will be very good next year. Rawlings is an excellent player and at 6"6 (still growing) he's a D1 kid. Just needs to continue to get stronger.

Its pretty much shaping up that its Rocklin's year in the SFL. They are deep, have size, and can score with anybody. Defensively they need to step it up however. DO seems like a likely #2 and nearly knocked off Rocklin in first meeting. Whitney is good enough to beat anybody on a given night but also is capable of losing to a school like OR or GB. Competitive league this year with some good battles coming up.

Friday' Games
I like Whitney at home over OR . OR will be in this game but just can't seem to finish off teams.
Folsom wins comfortably over GB.
The game of the week is Rocklin at DO. I could see Rocklin getting there first loss which might not be a bad thing.

Big win for Del Oro last night. Came close in the first meeting too. Might not be horrible in the long run for Rocklin to have a game like this.

Folsom has won eight of 10 overall heading into rematches against Del Oro and Rocklin next week

Yeah, I think Folsom isn't done yet but when Pinnick plays well for DO he's the best player on the floor. (in this league). But bottom half of league is def GB, OR, and Whitney.

1/31 Games

Rocklin at Oak Ridge
Del Oro at Folsom
Whitney at Granite Bay

Rocklin rebounds from DO loss and beats OR comfortably.
Tough game but DO is playing well and I think they give Folsom an L and sweep the series in the game of the night. Very close one like 70-68.
Whitney looked awful against OR. Like a JV team. GB certainly capable of the modest upset.

This aged well. DO beat Folsom 76-73 in OT
Wow. Is this possibly a comment for the worst first one award. Was truly welcoming the guy, but if he sees this he may not be back. And could it be the sixth burner account of the Folsom great. I tend to think it is based on how he came out the gate

OR 61 Rocklin 52
DO 76 Folsom 73 OT
Whitney 58 GB 55

Updated standings:
Rocklin 5-2 (23-2)
Del Oro 5-2 (19-6)
Folsom 4-3 (15-9)
Oak Ridge 3-4 (16-9)
Whitney 3-4 (15-10)
Granite Bay 1-6 (7-18)

Folsom at Rocklin tomorrow evening should be interesting.
Del Oro has the easiest schedule left with two home games v. OR and Whitney, and On the road v. GB. However, in this league anyone can beat anyone.

Rocklin looked really bad against Oak Ridge. Imagine being 24-1 and not even the best d2 in your league. That is Rocklin. I see early exit in playoffs. Oak Ridge is not a very good team.
DO to lose. When was the last time DO swept Folsom in league? Any of us alive?

Since Folsom joined the SFL, Del Oro boys had not won a game against Folsom at the varsity level in basketball or football until this season. And it might be a while until they do it in football.

DO killed OR.
Rocklin won easily over GB.
Folsom took care of whitney.

Rocklin beats Whitney Friday and they win league which I expect them to do but Whitney upset DO last week so who the heck knows. SFL has been pretty bad this year.
