There are actually some very good D1 and D2 2nd round matchups in the SJS Section tonight! Looking forward to seeing some good action.
D1 games Folsom@Lincoln and BC@CKM pose some interesting story lines and matchups. 2 of these very good teams will not be moving on to NorCals. Even St. Francis/Oak Ridge game should be good game with two of the best Sacramento area programs spanning over last 2-3 decades.
D2 games Roseville@Elk Grove and Antelope@Sac will also be interesting matchups. Usually these good games in SJS aren't until semi-final round.

Any thoughts on these games and matchups?

what are the keys for BC tonight? I have not seen them play this year. McClatchy could struggle against team with very strong guards that can handle their pressure defense. Jordan Cruz coming back has given them a big boost and threat from outside.

I would think the main key for BC every game is to stay out of foul trouble. If they are still playing with 5 or 6 players I would assume depth would always be a factor.

Sounds like they have been playing with 5 players all year, so they are obviously in good shape and used to playing this way. Not sure if this will be a factor or not, but if McClatchy plays just to try and wear them down, could work against them. What is BC's strengths?

I like their coaching and their relentless effort. I also think the girls for the most part tend to keep pretty good attitudes regardless to being up or down big. I saw them down 50 and they kept fighting and playing within the rules with good attitudes. I have seen far too many girls (especially in the EBAL) who get bad or less than desirable attitudes when adversity kicks in. And I have seen refs, parents, and coaches not step in to attempt to curb that attitude.

No team, coach, or player is perfect. And I'm sure B.C. has had an issue or two with bad attitudes. But in the few games I have watched I have been impressed with their composure and relentless play.

Why did Brookside Christian move from Div 4 last year to Div 1 this year in section playoffs? Can someone explain why that is?

Because they were in the Open last year, and SJS has a rule that if you're in the Open, then you are automatically Division I the next season. There were several other teams in several divisions that were locked in due to similar rules.
