SJS Playoffs....

The odds of the SJS doing that in order to settle a league title is really nil.. And the MEL could have made the call to move the games that were cancelled to week 9 or week 10. In that way, they could have the Vaca-Vintage head-to-head game. But they chose not to do it.

I think that game doesn’t have to be played, I see Vacaville better than Vintage, Vacaville strength of schedule is crazy, even Liberty has only lost to Vacaville, Yuba City is the only bad team on the schedule. Vintage has played a lot of very close games with weaker teams, not to take anything away from Vintage but I think given last years matchup Vacaville would have been ready for them, and we will see how good they are with their two remaining games being Wood and Napa

I take back my comment earlier about VIntage not being 4-0 in MEL. I saw Napa play for the first time this year, and I think it is sad what has happened to that program. Being an alumni, and with a kid playing for the Indians years ago, I just believed Napa would continue to dominate that rivalry. Not going to happen. What a mess they have over there. I see Vintage beating both Wood and Napa. Will they use the 13 point rule between Vacaville and Vintage since they will have 4 common league opponents? Seriously curious...

As far as I know it's what the Section Bylaws dictates. It's the difference between D1 & D2. Napa is a very sad team, worst one to recent memory.

First time Napa has been down can not recall when the last time they ever were (beginning of the MEL when Vintage was the Cream of the Crop)? I do not see Vacaville getting far...looks like they have been trending downward lately...hopefully they can get a a Passing Offense and some quality wins soon...

I would never count out Vacaville. They always seem to surprise teams when no one is expecting it.

**** I didn't take travel into consideration. Didn't want to dive that deep into it. I'm also not sure if the section guarantees league winners a home game in the first round of the playoffs. I thought they did away with that but I'm not sure. Still a lot of football to be played and some of these teams may not even make it.

Let the debate begin.......

Hoping for a higher seed for EDH (fingers crossed) league champ and 8-2 overall with a win over Cordova

Franklin and MT are in the same league and won't meet first round

I had Mont Trail at 9 and switched them and Gregori because that was the one time I looked at travel....LOL...Didn't pay attention to leagues. Should of left it. Changed it back to what I originally had.

That's why I asked about league champs being rewarded with a first round home game. I based my seeding off of Calpreps ratings for the time being. Casa Roble has a higher rating but are also going to finish 5-5 so I can easily see El Dorado moving ahead of them and even a Woodland team that will finish 7-3 but again they have a higher rating. I can easily see El Dorado as a 3 seed, Woodland at 4 and Casa Roble dropping to 5.

Yes, the section does try to give home games to league champions. Calpreps is only one factor that goes into the seedings, so I don't think this is going to be close to the way the seedings will land.

For example, I highly doubt that Granite Bay would be given a #2 seed as the #3 team in the SFL over 10-0 Inderkum and Del Campo. I also think that the section will discount the Sacramento forfeits and place them as a high seed.

I think Bradshaw Christian is DIV or DV...that CBS vs. Cordova brings back memories of the 80's....interesting match up of Downey-Modesto vs. Del Oro, Sheldon vs. Modesto too, that Vacaville vs. Lincoln looks solid, do not know if Vintage has faced an Offense that Sacramento runs...so be another interesting game as well, gonna look like a pound for pound game between Turlock & MT, Vista Del Lago vs. AC looks Gud as well, Placer vs. Woodland in the Championship Game (I know way to early)!

Here's the teams I currently have in each division.....School/Enrollment/League/Overall

Division 1
Lincoln (S) 2855 3-2 5-5
Franklin (EG) 2536 5-2 8-2
Oak Ridge 2533 5-1 9-1
Edison 2507 3-2 7-3
Modesto 2472 4-2 6-4
Turlock 2450 6-0 8-2
Folsom 2419 6-0 10-0
Enochs 2416 3-3 5-5
Sheldon 2385 6-1 8-2
Gregori 2273 5-1 9-1
Pitman 2247 4-2 5-5
Monterey Trail 2246 4-3 6-4
Jesuit 2172 7-0 8-2
River City 2155 2-4 6-4
Tracy 2108 4-1 7-3
St. Mary's 830 5-0 8-2

Division 2
Downey 2067 6-0 10-0
Granite Bay 2037 4-2 8-2
Rocklin 2018 3-3 6-4
Yuba City 2018 3-3 5-5
Inderkum 2006 6-0 10-0
Vacaville 1981 5-0 7-3
Stagg 1969 3-2 5-5
Vintage 1966 4-1 8-2
Oakmont 1877 3-4 6-4
Burbank 1869 6-1 6-4
Whitney 1860 5-2 6-4
Sacramento 902 7-0 9-1
Del Campo 1766 7-0 10-0
Wood 1729 3-2 5-5
Del Oro 1745 2-4 5-5
Cental Catholic 379 7-0 9-0
4

Now don’t all the Folsom and Oak Ridge fans get their panties in a bunch, but if the Playoff field looks like this list above, I’d say that the DII field is the tougher of the two. Deeper for sure.

Indy, Del Campo, CC, Sac High all solid squads. GB and Vaca and an undefeated Downey team. Tough!

Need to add Elk Grove to mix. Currently in 3rd in Delta and playoff eligible with 30-26 win at Franklin

Kinda of sad that Vintage is winning and both them & Vaca dont meet because this is the last time they will see each other. I just dont see why the SJS dont push it back a week so they can play like the teams from the NCS & CCS did? Wud like more info on this
Well Wood took care of Vintage tonight so Vintage is out of playoffs and Vaca and Wood In ! Winner next Friday is MEL champ , loser takes second

Vintage will still be in D2 playoffs but Vaca and Wood will get the 2 AQ spots for the M.E.L.

What is the tiebreaker for automatic bids? Looking at the Delta League where Elk Grove, Franklin and Monterey Trail could all end at 4-3 in league play and the three teams are 1-1 against each other.

In this scenario, Elk Grove would finish 5-5 (losing to Sheldon)

Head-to-Head is the 1st tie-breaker followed by 13 point rule, then opponent wins....

Delta example:

13 point rule only accounts for wins or losses up to 13 points. So a 30 point win is only the max points of +13, same for a loss.

Franklin vs EG- FRANKLIN LOST BY 4. So -4points
Franklin vs MTHS- FRANKLIN won by 21 but the most total points is only 13... +13
+13 vs MTHS, -4 vs EG = +9 for Franklin

Monterey Trails vs EG +13
Monterey Trails vs FHS -13
MTHS Total = 0

EG vs FHS= +4
EG vs MTHS= -13
EG Total =- 9

Franklin would get AQ #3
Monterey would get AQ #4
EG would not get an AQ (UNLESS ONE OF THOSE TEAMS LOSES OR THEY BEAT SHELDON)

A lot changed this past weekend and there could still be a lot of changes after this weekend. The amount of 5 win teams getting in this year is higher than any other year in the past and that is what's changing things up on a weekly basis. A lot of placements in divisions is going to be dependent on which 5-5 teams actually get in and which ones are out.

You have Antelope in D2 and D3.

And isn't Bradshaw Christian in a D6 league? They also beat Rio Vista, so I would swap those two.

Thanks....I forgot to take Antelope out of D3 when I moved them up to D2....For some reason I had Rio Vista winning that league but you're right on that as well....Thanks for catching it.

Interestingly, Lodi (5-5) is projected to make the cut because they will have faced teams with more wins total than Pitman (5-5). Yet, clearly, Pitman is the better team between these two. It's a mute point, considering neither stands a chance against any of the top-seeded teams in D1.

Lodi has to beat Tokay to qualify (Calpreps is predicting a 22-21 win), but will make it if they win.
Laguna Creek is likely to beat Johnson and will make the D2 bracket which will drop Antelope to D3.
I don't see Beyer making it all with their win opponent win totals.
Vanden will get the second AQ slot from the SCAC and should be in the D3 bracket.
Capital Christian should be in the D4 bracket. There is a provision in this year's playoffs where if a team is more than one bracket from their realignment bracket, then they will be moved up.
I think Woodland will beat Pioneer and make it into the D4 bracket. With both Woodland and CC in the D4 bracket, Dixon and Casa will move down to D5.
Highlands has to beat Bradshaw Christian to make the playoffs. Their opponent win totals is very low and they will not make it with 5 wins. Calpreps is calling this 44-22 for BC.

As the winner of the SDL, Bradshaw Christian will play in the D6 bracket (as you have them).

does that mean Manteca is up in D3?

Where is this provision located at? Haven't seen anyone else mention this.

Is there anywhere to see what division the new leagues will be in after realignment. I didn't even read that part. I just took it as they couldn't play more than one division lower than they league they are currently in. It kind of breaks it down on the enrollment page but that's based off current divisions. Nice point out. If Bear River or Argonaut win, they will get in and bump schools up out of the D4 bracket into the D3 bracket. I did have Vanden getting 2nd in there league but overlooked them because of the 5-4 record. I think they will just come in and replace Beyer so nothing will really change in the lower brackets.

Argonaut, Bear River, Union Mine, Rosemont, Hughson.....

These are the 4-5 teams right now that are projected to lose on Friday night. With what I have, if 1 of these teams win Manteca will be bumped up into D3. Being that I'm a LB guy we only want 1 to win. More than 1 win and we could be getting bumped up as well. American Canyon winning league and having to play in D3 is jacking everything up. LOL

If AC wins Friday they win league outright,if they lose, 3 way tie with Vanden and Benicia.AC and Benicia play Friday. AC beat Vanden, Vanden beat Benicia.
