The SF team is Archbishop Riordan from the tough WCAL. They are coached by DLS alum Kevin Fordon. They had a breakout season last year, with big wins over SHP, Mitty, Palma and Serra, and a close loss to Bellarmine. However, they are in a rebuilding mode this season with many question marks.

CITYFAN......Boy are you right...I haven't been paying much attention to the WCAL, but Riordan came on strong in 2015...They cleaned Sacred Heart Prep 48-21 to start the season but in the playoff's SHP came back and got them 35-28, they also beat Burlingame 30-28 and then Palma 17-14, both close games, but they came out on top.
Riordan did not do well against Valley Christian and got dumped 45-27, but they were in games to the end against St. Francis and lost 36-27 and a real close one against Bellarmine, but going down 14-6.
So, when Riordan goes up against DLS, MC and bishop O'Dowd, they will make things real interesting....Seems in the past, Riordan was the whipping boy of the league, but now they have turned the tables on the WCAL.. The coach has installed some chemistry into the team.

A little research on the Crusaders shows that the 2016 season will not be a repeat of the 2015 campaign as Riordan looses a lot to grad and a poor performance by the JV/Frosh team will not help the varsity....So we will have to draw our own conclusions on the Crusaders comes the four team match at DLS when they meet Bishop O'Dowd, Marin Catholic and DLS.

Check out the WCAL Football thread if you want to know more about Riordan and the other WCAL teams headed into this season, In next few days will be a prediction of how the teams compete in 2016 and finish for the season. Bluedog2 is accurate in his assessment - Riordan lost just about all their skill players & the Crusader's for 2016 will not resemble the team of 2015 [unfortunately].

Whats up with O'dowd? They have seemed to be underacheiving for years and certainly under Kaufman last two seasons have been talented yet only produced back to back 5-5. They have the players but not sure if they have the structure to battle with big boys.
