Impressive win for Riordan especially on second night of back to back after losing to Jesuit on Monday. All these Mitty-Riordan matchups should be really good this year.Riordan 60 - Mitty 50 Final
I only caught the last quarter+ but Riordan looked good and lead by double digits most of the 2nd half but Mitty cut it six then Riordan hit a lot of their FTs to close it out in the fourth quarter. Riordan has a nice athletic well-balanced squad. Nice win for the Crusaders.
Its quite a site to see Riordan when they play defense with so much energy. Nothing Mitty got was easy. At one point at start of 4th, AM only had 33 points. This is a statement win and Coach Curtin this type of defense will carry them deep into playoffs.Caught both the Jesuit and Mitty games. Jesuit game was a "stinker" and the first time the Crusaders appeared to miss King Wilhite. Lots of unforced turnovers, defensive lapses, ball going in and out of the rim and the flow of the game was disrupted by the tight calls from the refs. Jesuit had a lot to do with it as they played with force and Epperson was just on fire. Also, it didn't help that Riordan's Tshamala left the game in the opening minutes after getting a nasty elbow to the jaw. Freshmen Kuminga and Davis also were unavailable.
Last night was an 180 turnaround as Riordan's defense was smothering and Riordan played with force and won most of the 50/50 balls. Unforced turnovers were still there, but drastically reduced last night. I counted 10 dunks last night with Wise flushing 6 of them - the last one a reverse off an alley oop. The team was still without the 3 players that sat the night before, but the rotation was solid. Riordan's length and athleticism at all positions gave Mitty fits. against the 3 6-7 players. Mitty was without 2 of its guards, but don't think it would have made a difference last night. Lots of balanced scoring. Team still figuring life without King, but the trajectory is very positive, Team should be pretty formidable as the season progresses as they just need time playing together.
Last I saw was he was on this year's roster of East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi.i seen jelani clark on the bench. he not playing college basketball anywhere?

Yah thats too bad. Was fun watching him. Just shows how difficult it is to have a career path in playing hoops no matter how talented you are. Hopefully he finds a niche in basketball that doesnt involve playing because it looks like those prospects are dead.Jelani was on the Crusader bench last year as well. I don't think he's played since leaving UNR to the best of my knowledge.
