Tracy (6-1) at St. Mary’s-Stockton (7-0) -

Tracy’s only loss is to Downey (7-0). Tracy has beaten Lincoln-Stockton and Lodi has lost to both St. Mary’s-Stockton and Lincoln-Stockton, leaving this game to truly be for the TCAL league championship. Tracy brings a ground game offense similar to Lodi’s with much misdirection, only better. Looking for Tracy’s offense to start off strong vs the Rams run defense, similar to Lodi and DLS. But, eventually the Rams D will tighten up. Will Tracy’s D have any shot of slowing down and stopping St. Mary’s offense? The only times I have seen the Rams have any problem is when they shoot themselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers. Keep in mind that one big reason the Rams beat the Spartans last week was because of 3 huge fumbles by DLS (one stripped, one forced with a hit, and the third just coughed up). Take away those fumbles and the De La Salle game may have been much closer and maybe in DLS’s favor. Still, DLS could not stop the Rams offense once it got clicking. The Rams philosophy has always been catch me if you can. This goes all the way back to the 2004 section championship vs Nevada Union with one of if not the largest scoring championships in SJS D1 history. Tracy has potential to score, but doubt it will be enough against this years Rams team. Projecting SM 56 Tracy 21, with last Tracy Bulldogs score coming in garbage time. Still, it should be a fun game to watch, especially if you want to witness, what some folks consider, the best offense in NorCal. Will have my track shoes on tonight for chain gang duty, but plan to hand the box to my son to handle box duties during big plays (running down to the goal line).

I was going to go to the Sutter v 12 bridges or the Woo v Casa but I think I'm going to stay at home with a cold on or 6 and watch a live stream on 1 TV and the Dodgers are the other. Go Dodgers!

Let’s see, I projected a score of SM 56 Tracy 21, with the last score in garbage time. Add an extra TD to both teams, and if not for the muffed kickoff return giving Tracy the ball at the Rams 5 yard line (allowing the Bulldogs of Tracy to score a go ahead TD in the 2nd quarter), and this comes really close to the final actual outcome of 63-33, with Tracy’s last TD scored in garbage time against the 2nd string Rams’ defense, during the running clock. Definitely, fun game to watch!

NOTE: St. Mary’s scored on every single possession outside of the muffed ko and taking a knee at the end with the 2nd string offense. No punts, no turnover on downs, fumbles, or INTs.
