Here are two games that I think will be really good this weekend

1-AA: Pittsburg vs. Lincoln-San Diego (this has become the premier game most years with Open likely being a no contest. Lincoln has a big win over Grant)

3-AA: Frontier-Bakersfield vs. Amador Valley (Frontier had an early season win over Oak Rdige, but lost to Liberty. AV comes in playing well with a good offense)

5AA: Local interest.

1AA: This could be the best game of the weekend.

1A: Again, local interest. I live about a mile from Edison.

2AA: Much like in the regional where Grant was heavily favored due the Calpreps 'playoff bump', I think this game will be much closer than predicted. I don't think Pacifica will win, but I don't think they'll be a push-over.

4A: Living in SoCal, what I'd hear a lot is how much tougher it is in the SS. "Week in, week out" was the most common term. But what I came to realize is that this was really only true at the upper levels. The mid-sized schools weren't anything special. I think SPXSM demonstrated this in their playoff run. I think Sonora is going to have their way in this game and give a reality check.

6AA: Looking at the numbers prior to the regional games, nothing about either Arcata nor Portola stood out. But after watching their games from last weekend, I am impressed. Both teams play hard and can execute. This could be a good game.

7AA: Similar comment to that for 6AA. I didn't really expect much from this level, but both Moreau and Lindsay handled their business last week. Could be another good game.

Def the Pitt vs Lincoln Game (1AA). Sort of similar styles and both tough public schools. These guys both love the big plays. Who makes more of them will be the winner.
Grant shows up like they did on the road at St Francis and I think they win.

I believe Pitt will jump ahead quickly on Lincoln and Lincoln will slowly make their way back into it but Pitt wins.Pacifica can become stagnant on offense.Their defense is pretty tough .Grant should win

The only one that matters honestly. Love to see DLS shock everyone and get that win. When they expanded the bowls to from 5 to everyone gets a trophy I lost interest. Love to say the Pitt Lincoln game but the losers advancing thing spoils that game. It criminal we have teams who lose in playoffs calling themselves State champs.

I’ll be at the 1AA and 2A games. Pitt and Lincoln will be a good game, and I’m excited to see if Twelve Bridges will make history in its early years.

I surely hope that you don't make your money in a profession that has anything to do with statistics if you somehow believe that 1.44% of a member body constitutes "everyone".

Systems is broken…. So Cal wins 6 of top 7 and NorCal wins 7 of bottom 8..??? Wierd imbalances. I think So Cal better teams knocking each other off in higher divisions. NorCal watering down divisions. IMO

Not entirely accurate.

SoCal won 5 games total. NorCal won 10.

SoCal's strength is with the higher divisions, but then there's a big drop off after that. That doesn't happen in NorCal, where its strength is with midsize/smaller programs/communities.

Also not accurate to say that just because they got some of those wins that they're automatically so much better. Many went down to the wire and could have gone either way.

Does the NCS have too many divisions? Yes. Should neither the SFS and OS be individual sections? Yes.

But does the LACS have too many divisions? Yes. Does the SDS have too many, too? Also yes.

I've said this before, but trying to fix the postseason with changes on the edges won't do anything to improve the system. With the way the sections operate, all postseason play (outside of a couple of games) is like the college bowl system. Fun memories for the players and teams, but doens't mean much for figuring out the best teams.

This is a tough one, one has to look no further than the SS playoff system to see why there is a big difference in bowl games. Would argue if NCS/SJS used this model it would be challenging for Norcal to ever when any state games.

Well said.

Are you implying only 1 11/25 would be shocked?
No. I'm stating (not implying) that you don't understand statistics very well if you believe that awarding championship trophies to 1.4% of the CIF schools counts as "everyone gets a trophy".

Just because you might be able to do basic math, that doesn't mean you understand what it's doing.

There's a saying I often use, "when someone has to over-exaggerate a point in order to make a point, they have no point".

I submit that the statement "everyone gets a trophy" qualifies as gross over-exaggeration.
