Maybe the CIF doesn't expect big crowds at baseball, even championship games, and thinks they'd lose money trying to do it at a Div. 1 university.... Apparently, that should change, maybe... Since I have never gone to HS baseball until just a few this season, I have no idea whether the fan interest is unusually high this year or not.

Most games during the reg. season, maybe all, are free to enter and watch.
Yeah good stadium will draw a good crowd. Just went to the AIA final a few weeks ago at Diablo Stadium and crowd was about 5-6K and that was on a Tuesday night.

Regionals First Round

Nice series for the first round of regional playoffs. Here are the sections and how they matched with each other on percentage of wins. The NCS section had the best performance at 77% excluding the OS one team section. The CS section performed the worst with zero wins followed by 16% or one team win for the NS section.

Most Impressive win today I Thought was ST Mary’s over VC!…. Felt like that was a bad draw for them and they win!…. Great win for those kids!,…

I never knew that name... Tells ya how much I pay attention to college baseball... None. So, what's parking like there? I know parking is a total nightmare for basketball and football...
It does have a different name, but I remember “Evan’s Field”…. Awful Parking but a really great Venue!….

The powers that be just need to schedule the games on Saturday…. The can pick the High School or JC stadium’s they hold the games at and finish them in the same day… You can’t have a Championship game that goes 14 days Ming’s finish over 2 days…. 🤣

Upsets in D1 Softball

Upsets were the norm rather than the exception today in the Nor Cal D1 Softball Regionals as several higher-seeded teams fell:
Biggest Upset:
#8 Amador Valley 4, #1 St. Francis 1.
#7 Whitney-Rocklin 2, #2 Mitty 0.
#6 Oak Ridge 4, Hollister 2.

The only game that went as predicted was
#4 Clovis North 1, #5 Casa Grande-Petaluma 0.

So Thursday it will be:

Whitney at Oak Ridge in a rematch of Sierra Foothill League rivals that faced off last week for the SJS D1 Championshio

And

Amador Valley (NCS D1 Champs) at Clovis North (Central Section D1 Champs)

NorCal Brackets

Streaming of St Mary’s vs VC on NFHS appears to be not working or delayed. Wish I could be at this game. But, at Toyota Town waiting car repair (brakes).
Crazy game - 1-1 going into the 9th
And now bottom of 9th 3-3, SM with one out, 2 on bases. A few controversial calls in this inning.
Top of 10th 3-3, no lights at SM. Bases loaded, 1 out, 2 outs.
Bottom of 10th 3-3
Rams wins 4-3

Wow!… Shocker in D1!…. CCS D1 Runner up SI drops to D2, SJS D2 Winner GB bumped up to D1 and VC a Semifinalist gets in!!!….

Tough Break for ST Mary’s!…. They will have to face Quintin Marsh and VC in the first round!….

I don’t like this…. A semifinalist should not get in…. Cardinal Newman should have been bumped up to D1 like they weee last year…. And why Drop SI?…. They have 2 wins over Serra and one over VC…. Doesn’t make sense…..
CN lost to VC 8-2 in their only meeting.

a few docu of some NorCal great HS players and teams

Dame and Oakland trying to snap the streak in OAL... much can be said, big fish in small pond... Dame/Weber St, Will /Montana, Steph/Davidson... CJ/Lehigh... going to big D1 whale schools, may not get PT due to all the talent.. not to say whale D1 schools is not a good option.. just mids can develop players as well and they have to learn to be team leaders from the get.
Those players were lesser high school talent according to the rankings. They went where they could. They didn't turn down unc, Duke, Kansas or Kentucky. Those are the outliers.
