They haven't played Serra yet this season, so there's that. The teams they lost to are not slouches, but if the defense doesn't improve they have no chance.

Suppose I should comment on the Carmel lights issue. Yes, Carmel finally has lights. After what seems like forever legal battles with the school's NIMBY "neighbors". However the approved plan also calls for an expansion of the parking lot and that has yet to be completed. And since it is not finished, the school has elected to play Friday night games at MPC fearing that a night game at Carmel might give the NIMBYers a reason to go back to court arguing that the lights shouldn't be used until the parking situation has been resolved. At least that is my understanding.

Damn! Seeing a list like that makes you wonder how these guys aren't beating everyone in the North.

It could only be one of 2 things or maybe both.

I get what he's saying. If a school is throwing out 200+ offers for 22 scholarship spots they aren't all real. The math don't lie. They even tell some kids they aren't committable. WTF does that mean. What it means is post on IG with some lame ass picture and market the school for us.

There has always been one consistent and constant theme for every Riordan football team no matter what year, players, coaches or administration. They hate SH. Hate isnt even doing it justice. I can remember their players lining up during warmups and their 10 count. "Irish.... Irish.... Irish....Irish... Irish"... They were possessed to kill us. And this attitude, if they actually displayed that hatred vs every opponent, by God they would actually be dominant and better than what their record shows. They hung 63 on SH. They probably shouldve hung 90.

You can just blame both coaches and players. Players arent motivated beyond their own personal goals. When you have that attitude, you cant coach them. Dont matter how many supposed D1 guys you have. Coaches cant do anything if you dont have players willing and able.

Folsom struggles against the likes of DLS and Serra, who know how to slow them down. Riordan seems to struggle against everyone.

And yes, either Riordan has bad coaching or their players are overrated. Theres no other explanation.

No doubt they are not playing up to their hype, but they are still a young team and many will be back next season. 12 of those 17 being offered are underclassmen. They need to learn to win. Until the VC game they were in every game until the end. Also, please list those fake offers.

You do realize that SI was a playoff team in 4 of Regalia's last 5 seasons at the helm, right? The only season they failed to see playoffs was the 2020 COVID Season when there was no playoffs! How many playoff appearances did Riordan have in that same span? You guessed it, GOOSE EGG!!!!!

And, Hell, don't forget to mention that Regalia retired. He isn't coaching anymore. John would still be at SI had he not decided to call em quits. Can't say the same for Mark Modeste, he was Fired.

I'm not trying to undermine what Lenny Vandermade is doing, he's done a good job but to compare the two situations is laughable.

SI Reports 29 Seniors, 28 Juniors, 5 Sophomores and a Freshman on their Varsity Roster.
Riordan Reports 14 Seniors, 22 Juniors, 12 Sophomores and 3 Freshmen on their Varsity Roster.

You do realize that outside of making the playoffs Regalia only had 1 winning season (2019) in his last 10 years at the helm?

Vandermade is about to break his streak of 1 winning season in his only 2nd year as the HC while setting up a chance for SI to win the WCAL outright which has never been done.

By the way you are defending Regalia, you must be a part of the old guard who doesn't like to see an outsider come in and take credit for making SI a football power.

We're new to SI so we don't have the biases to the old guard some of the alum like you obviously do.

Mitty Schedule

Mitty is acting like an LA program. It has 11 returnees from last years state runner-up squad. Most teams would be thrilled with that core and be lucky to add an interesting frosh or promote a couple from its dominant JV. But in addition to Cosgriff and Zeni Patterson (who already has D1 offers), Mitty also got Malia Hunter, the tallish daughter of a new men's assistant coach at Stanford (she is classified as a freshman). Gotta feel for Mitty's four senior guards (and others) who have paid their dues but are not likely to see much meaningful action in light of the remodel.

I may be forgetting someone, but my guess at the lineup is Woliczko '26, Cosgriff '26, Tee McCarthy '27, Emma Cook '26 (who started all last season). and Patterson or Abbi James '26.

REMC...I saw DLS playing against PITT several times and what you pointed out was the line play, DLS always came out ready to play while Pitt struggled under Galli and the new coach has pumped new life into Pitt and the line play has improved but they must do better.. And it looks like the new PITT is heading that direction and DLS will meet PITT. in the future.

Agreed. Only team in NorCal that I think could beat the current Folsom is DLS. Where’s that guy that thought Riordan could keep up with Mater Dei? 😂

Mater dei being the best of those

They are coached well enough or talent so overwhelming they don't need as much team chemistry to win.

All those teams finished top 5 or top 10 in the nation 5+ times the last decade doing this

Most other teams recruit great than develop players and build a team organically.

Serra the last 3 years before this year did that. De la salle always built there team that way


Riordan doesn't value defense. And offense always get stagnant in the second half.


The coaching is not good and u have to coach great when u dont have consistent team chemistry.


Si has mental toughness as well they been down big in games late and came back in all of them but srv

The big 7, putting aside the moral aspects of what they do as far as blatant no holds barred recruiting, can certainly coach. At least well enough to exploit their superior athletic ability.

Riordan from the few clips and highlights I watched, do not defend the run or pass effectively. The line play is not great. They don't move people.

You can make pretty accurate judgements about coaching based on whether or not the coach maximizes his talent. Riordan is not.
