Another great game in the WNBA playoffs. I hope everyone on this board, and lots of players, have been watching.
Team chemistry beats raw talent any day of the week unless your mater dei.
Over the years there has been a lot of talk about the coach factor vs the talent factor for a successful team. AR shows how important good coaching is to a team's success. AR was highly ranked early this season simply because of the talent factor. Reality, though, shows how important coaching is in ranking equations.I’ve mentioned this before, there are a lot of fake offers on that squad. These fake offers attract kids to the school. Follow the trail and I guarantee you 6-7 at most have an official offer that sticks,. Losing by 3 scores to VC is embarrassing. Kids will figure it out over time and this window to win will close. Defensively there is no coaching occuring. Riordan is an example of the most talented team with the least success.
However, in light of this info, its important to note that AR is not fielding a Frosh team. This quoted roster number could hardly field two teams. And further to the frosh/soph ratio, many of the current sophomores are playing varsity.@SFcityfan, let’s get some those girls on the varsity. lol. Good showing vs the Irish today.
Appears Ravipati is building his program through the freshman classes starting with the 2027 kids. Their JVs (48 frosh; 7 sophs) are 2-3. Chris Lawson and Mike Mitchell’s brothers are freshman. Their WCAL losses are by only 6 and 8 points to SI and VC
HA!…. What else could it Be?….🤣It’s a mixture of their defense being Swiss cheese and perhaps some of those D1 players are overrated?
I remember you slugbug and I were talking about the talen on Sacramento team.. This kid is thar. He has no off season. He was wrestling all summer. He us ranked #22 nationally. He has Oakdale speed. Combined with Oakdale farm boy strong. It's genetic. His grandfather is from my dad's generation. He was section wrestling champ too I was told. This week CC. We will see on Friday how real he is. CC has big linemen. My buddy and I were checking out his hudle highlights his defense plays show his real speed. Running people down. He will be on defense in college.I heard,I watched as you posted last week, every time you turned around this Burford kid was in or going into end zone, also I heard you say this gifted young man is also s tremendous wrestler.Yeah,I’ll stay tuned and have the Corral in mind,I need that Tri-Tip Sandwich!😂😂🤣🤣👍👍

@SFcityfan, let’s get some those girls on the varsity. lol. Good showing vs the Irish today. Its a bit of both if we're being honest. There's nothing to suggest that the kids they claim are getting recruited aren't. Many of them are committing and they've sent guys to the next level in both of Ravipati's first two seasons. I think his biggest strength is just that: he's so well connected that he can get guys looks at a rate that other coaches, even in the WCAL, cannot.
Who was recruiting Isiah Chala before Ravipati came knocking? He's at Fresno State now.
Who was recruiting Zach Jones before Ravipati showed up? He's at UC Davis now.
Who was recruiting Joseph Herbert before Ravipati took over? He didn't even play for Coach Adhir but he's at San Jose State now on full scholarship after walking on. Ravipati got him looked at, not anyone else.
Look at their 3 signees from last year: Kalolo Taaga, Tyrone Jackson and Tobey Weydemuller. Taaga was a 1 year footballer player who converted from hoops and signed his NIL to USC, Jackson had zero buzz going into his junior year and probably doesn't go anywhere if he stays at Oakland Tech and Weydemuller didn't play but a handful of varsity games due to injury yet is at Cal.
My point is that.....as you alluded, maybe those guys aren't as great as their recruiting profiles state. Yet they're still getting recruited at an alarming rate! Seems to me like a Head Coach who fights to get his guys out. W Coach.
Building aye? Lol. Its much easier to build off of good foundation than it is off of no foundation.
You do realize that SI was a playoff team in 4 of Regalia's last 5 seasons at the helm, right? The only season they failed to see playoffs was the 2020 COVID Season when there was no playoffs! How many playoff appearances did Riordan have in that same span? You guessed it, GOOSE EGG!!!!!
And, Hell, don't forget to mention that Regalia retired. He isn't coaching anymore. John would still be at SI had he not decided to call em quits. Can't say the same for Mark Modeste, he was Fired.
I'm not trying to undermine what Lenny Vandermade is doing, he's done a good job but to compare the two situations is laughable.
SI Reports 29 Seniors, 28 Juniors, 5 Sophomores and a Freshman on their Varsity Roster.
Riordan Reports 14 Seniors, 22 Juniors, 12 Sophomores and 3 Freshmen on their Varsity Roster.
Wow as well!! I had no idea the number of offers some of these kids have. The most on the list looks to be Wesley Winn with 43! And he's only a sophomore.Thank You So Much!!….
WOW, That is Crazy!!…. So out of roughly 50 players, 17 have D1 offers….
And I thought Folsom was the most talent team in Nor Cal!!…. 🤣
He has offers from a few SoCal schools...Long Beach, Pepperdine. the East Coast has interest as well. Vermont is one of those schools, another starts with an R.Would love to see him at a school like UCSB.
