SRV is quite good. But De La Salle is so much better than last year. SF-SI will be the better choice if you're hoping for a closer game.
Line play usually is Pitts downfall IMO. They always have athletes and speed on the perimeter. I like what their new coach is doing. Pitt seems a bit more focused than what I saw under Coach Galli, with all due respect. Gonna be interesting to watch them in the playoffsThese are all good thoughts, but Pittsburg in the past has been their own enemy and they gave up 20 points to Las Gatos, so Pitt must work on every thing they have.
D needs to get a little better. Gave up 40 to Riordan as well. Maybe I’m thinking back to ‘91 when Pitt shocked the world. These are all good thoughts, but Pittsburg in the past has been their own enemy and they gave up 20 points to Las Gatos, so Pitt must work on every thing they have.

DLS is back to being DLS. Can't throw the St. Mary's game out, but I would love to see a rematch. Don't think it would be that close again.
All this talk about Folsom, SRV, DLS, and the WCAL. In the meantime Pitt is just staying "under the radar." That's the team I would not want to face in the playoffs. Played toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the nation, and looked like a Max Prep Top 10 US team for three quarters.
Mind says DLS for the Nor Cal Open state rep, but my gut is not on the same page...
Who’s brother is the current Defensive Backs and Assistand Coach at St Francis, Matt Scharrenberg. Dude was a baller in his day too, very athletic tough family.1985 Mercury-News All-CCS
POY Eric Scharrenberg, St. Francis
He was a great player in his day too.
Either Riordan’s players are not as good as their recruiting profiles state or they are poorly coached….
I don’t care if they are all juniors or whatever, they should not be losing games with a big lead against SI and getting boatraced by VC, if you really have 10 D1 level players or whatever has been stated regarding Riordan…..
Still a ways to go in the season so we will see how this all plays out….
Vandermade is building a culture like Walsh did in his early years when he won WCAL in year 2 of coaching at Serra. Serra's 1st WCAL title in 30 years. I agree, the infancy excuse isn't valid anymore.
You are going to come down to the Corral. Oakdale finally has one if those good athletes we wished for. Check out Wes Burford stats. Last week 6 rushing 1 kick off return. 90 yards on side kick cover and he plays better defense. 7 total TD. 381 rushing. 8 yards receiving. Even Patterdon fans cheered him.😂😂👍👍😉😉
Live Oak, Hillsdale, Branham, and Sacred Heart Prep are all A-League teams slated in the D4 Bracket currently.A-League teams can only be slotted in D1-D3. Aptos and Capuchino are A League. Piedmonte Hills is B league.
1985 Mercury-News All-CCSV/C defense is ran by a St Francis grad who learned the defense scheme from some of the great wcal coaches of all time. Go back and check the books from literally the mid 70's to the 2000 the Lancer defense was very tough, without a bunch of D-1 guys. Scheme and smart really works
He’s a very good college player and will do well at uconn. He knows what he signed up and that’s less minutes and shots but a chance to play for the best coach in America and a chance to win a title.UConn 102-75 over URI in at Hoophall in an exhibition.
Aidan was a bit quiet in the first half, got pushed around some (but still scored 5) ...
But he was a LOT more assertive in the 2nd half, ending up with 17 points on 6 of 9 shooting, 3 of 5 from the arc. 3 assists, 2 steals...
Didn't start, but he played 23 minutes, 3rd most on the team.
Not bad for that kid from the back alleys of Moraga!
😂😂😂😂10. Twelve Bridges
9. De La Salle
8. Rocklin
7. Central Catholic
6. Kelseyville
5. Woodside
4. Arcata
3. St. Francis
2. Turlock
1. Stevenson
GOTW: 28-19
I agree with this. DLS is back to being DLS. Can't throw the St. Mary's game out, but I would love to see a rematch. Don't think it would be that close again.Totally agree with this, and DLS basically has a bye week to prepare since they played last Tuesday…..
Last year SRV was led by talented QB Luke Baker who came close to beating DLS Twice in 3 tries!…. He was a mobile QB and very accurate passer the kind of QB that is Kryptonite to DLS…. Plus DLS was in total control of that game and blew an onside kick recovery that Baker turned into TD and 2pt conversion tying the game….. And then fumbled on the ensuing possession leading to the SRV missed FG….
In the Playoffs last year DLS stuck with the running game and avoided the mistakes that plagued them in The first game and won 17-7….
DLS is Significantly better this year along the lines and at Running Back, beating DLS this year a far tougher task then Last year and DLS will be super prepared for this game…. I think it will be close then DLS will pull away in the end….
Serra is young, a bit down, and still beat Folsom this year. But they just took it on the chin vs. Valley Christian and lost to SI. Sacred Heart played them tough for most of the game as well. SI, St. Francis, Valley Christian, and even Riodan, would be a problem in any top Cali league outside of the Trinity.Outside of Serra, WCAL doesn't impress.
Vandermade has done a tremendous job this year, but let’s not kid ourselves, he faced Serra at the end of their 3 year domination. Yes SI is 3-0, but their wins against Serra and Riordan were by a combined 4 points. Lots of football to be played and both St. Francis and VC and perhaps Mitty if they get their injured players back will have a say. Also, that season-ending B-M game at Kezar should be a doozy! And SI will play these same teams most likely come CCS.Vandermade is building a culture like Walsh did in his early years when he won WCAL in year 2 of coaching at Serra. Serra's 1st WCAL title in 30 years. I agree, the infancy excuse isn't valid anymore.
I hear you. My son is a proud Bell grad and was on their last hoop co-championship team (w/Mitty and Riodan) in '20. I have a few cousins on the football team now. Unreal regarding where football program is today. We'll figure it out.I wou
l wouldn't call WCAL down. Been following the league since late 1970s. Serra is young and down from last season but still good enough to defeat the best team in the SJS in Folsom. Bells have been down for years and SHC is in a tough spot, but rest are quality teams with top 4 as tough as any league in Norcal (maybe only Tri-river in Central Section is stronger but debatable and in East Bay Mountain DLS skews the league but top 3-4 teams are very good and would rank as better).
A-League teams can only be slotted in D1-D3. Aptos and Capuchino are A League. Piedmonte Hills is B league.Hey PALBOOSTER, What is the justification as to why PiedmontHills at 41.5 points is the 1 seed in D4 where the 8 seed Aptos has 40.5 and 7 seed Capuchino in D3 also has 41.5 points?
Totally agree with this, and DLS basically has a bye week to prepare since they played last Tuesday…..Although it’s not the same teams, last season SRV was within a missed FG of beating DLS in the last seconds of regulation, before losing in OT.
That could both embolden this year’s SRV team to believe they can beat DLS, and at the same time motivate DLS so as not to leave this game up to a FG kicker to win or lose.
DLS needs to be on upset alert. SRV can pull it off if DLS doesn’t play well. IMOAlthough it’s not the same teams, last season SRV was within a missed FG of beating DLS in the last seconds of regulation, before losing in OT.
That could both embolden this year’s SRV team to believe they can beat DLS, and at the same time motivate DLS so as not to leave this game up to a FG kicker to win or lose.
I think you are right, DLS plays to win, for SRV to win, they must play 110% and maybe they will win.Don’t be surprised when DLS beats San Ramon by 21
Who's the 2nd best team in the WCAL this year?
