NCP Pick'em Week 10 Games

My Picks in Bold
10. San Marin at Cardinal Newman
9. Moreau Catholic at Bishop O'Dowd
8. Merced at Atwater
7. Half Moon Bay at San Mateo
6. McNair at Chavez
5. Saratoga at Jefferson
4. Foothill-Palo Cedro at Pleasant Valley
3. Valley Christian at St. Ignatius (Game of the Week) 21 - 14
2. Calaveras at Linden
1. St. Vincent at Ukiah

What division are CN and Marin Catholic in NCS for the playoffs this season?

The way that the NCS sees competitive equity is comical. If Newman loses to either San Marin or MC(both possibilities), the highest they can go is D4. As you can move up or down 2 Divisions based on what some genius thinks is competitive equity. The NCS is BY FAR the worst section in the State with how they have developed their system. It is unfortunate that the powers that be within the NCS were not willing to listen to those that understand common sense.

Folsom vs Centennial 2025

They also haven't dominated for 15 years quite yet. While they were good in 2009 then won their first State game in 2010 -- the machine they've become didn't really begin until 2012. That's when the SJS domination and all-star player migration started to take hold.

They are 136-5 against the SJS from 2012 until today. They are 23-12 against all other sections/oos over the same time period.

FWIW, our new Folsom/DLS fan that joined in October sure smells like another burner account if you know what I mean.

Folsom vs Centennial 2025

Folsom Never Finished #2, #5 and #8 in the Nation…. Those Rankings would be reserved for CA Open Champion’s…..

Those are likely State rankings you are referencing, although in 2014 Cen10 would be #2 in CA because they were the Open Runner up to DLS…..

The 17 and 18 teams beat no one and barley scraped by San Diego teams in D1AA so not sure how they would be National top 10 level teams…. 🤣

Well that was Max preps rankings

Folsom vs Centennial 2025

Folsom vs Centennial 2025

I hope this is true.

I always been a fan of Folsom, de la salle my fav team but Folsom always been a great team to me

The knock on them that they need to play elite teams on a consistent basis is fair.

I mean Folsom got 5 state titles and 3 top ten in the nation finishes (2014, finished 2 2017 finished 5 2018 finished 8. )

They got 2 wins over de la salle which is great but they haven't played a elite team in so cal, Florida, Texas or ga.

They been Dominant for 15 years in sac area I think they record like 135-10 vs Sacramento schools.

But they also unknown by many fans outside of NorCal which shouldn't be the case.

I always said I love to see them vs mv or cen or the Trinity other 4 teams.

I think they can compete with cen 10. It be closer than people think I think they lose like 38-21.

I think if u put Folsom in so cal they be a div 1 playoff team. Bosco, mater dei, cen 10, mv, orange Lutheran. servite, Folsom, j serra

So Folsom pretty good I hope this game happens

Folsom vs Centennial 2025

I know it hasn’t happened before, but Cen10 not coming up to NorCal for a game isn’t a big deal to me. Point is, they’ve scheduled and played all their local and some National powers as well. Venue is secondary to actually scheduling and playing high profile opponents. Cen 10 has done that in spades

I don’t dispute that they schedule elite programs. They have. But it is still a fact that, historically, they don’t travel for those types of games sans Vegas and Arizona recently.

So the rumor that they will be the ones traveling to Folsom doesn’t instill a lot of confidence. That’s all.

But there’s a first time for a lot of things.

This kid is a 2X holdback what do they call them?

I’m from this area and have a 14 year old freshman and it gets irritating hearing about how great this “freshman” is. Is he having a great season, yea, but if he was in his correct grade, there would be little talk.

It was recommended to me to holdback my son, who could benefit greatly, by their 7/7 team.
Anyone suggesting a "holdback" year should not be involved in youth sports, run from that program. What a joke. When I grew up you wanted to play with older kids to get better, now everyone wants to play against younger kids for the "likes"

I turned 18 in December of my senior year, and if I recall correctly, I was one of the earliest in my class to hit that age.

I remember that Jason Kidd turned 19 just two days after his state title game in his senior year, and a lot of people seemed to think he was too old. He would have been ineligible the entire season if born just a few days earlier, if I understand the rules correctly. I think the rule back then, a player was ineligible for the entire if he was gonna be 19 before the season ended.

But then there was that one kid at SPSV. Played half his senior year basketball season but "aged out". So maybe it's semester-related... Then again, it may vary by district. Who knows?

Parent/Coach/Administration Conflict at Sheldon

Didn’t that have to do with a shed built on campus, or something odd like that? Or am I remembering something else completely?

Strange overreactions to say the least.
Yes, it was a team room being built without the proper permits. I do not know the extent of Nixon's knowledge or involvement, but the building was definitely more elaborate than the "shed" that they had permission to build. I have no insight as to why Nixon was the fall guy on that, though. That might very well have been a strange overreaction. EGUSD tends to be pretty tight-lipped on official things, leaving only the rumor mill to get info. I'm not that well-connected.

Folsom vs Centennial 2025

Not saying it isn’t true, but it all flies in the face of everything these programs have done historically.

Cen10 has never scheduled a game North of Fresno and almost never plays outside of the IE or greater LA and SD areas. Until just recently, they never left the state and marquee OOS programs always had to come to them.

They scheduled a game in Vegas and Greater Phoenix just these past couple seasons. But before that? Never.

Color me skeptical that after 35 years as a program they are going to schedule a game in NorCal (North of Fresno) for the very first time.

Conversely, Folsom never has scheduled a legit marquee SoCal (Southern Section) program, let alone one at the top of their game.

A couple of historic trends have to suddenly reverse at the exact same time for this one to be true.
You are correct on all points!….. I will believe this game is happening when it is confirmed by the schools….. 🤣
