Kimball is hosting it 2nd annual JV/freshman shootout on Jan 13th. This event was created to help programs fill in holes in their schedules that were short games. U can play 1 or two games. one day event.

Looking for 2 JV teams that can play 1 game OR 1 team that can play 2 games. Frosh: I need 2 teams that can play 1 game.

Marin Catholic's Charles Williams was named the Metro Player of the Year.

Regional Player of the Years are Serra's Jabari Mann (Peninsula), Lincoln's Jamelle Newman's (San Francisco) and Piedmont's Sam Shelby (East Bay). The Contra Costa area had a tree way tie of San Ramon Valley's Marco Jones, Acalanes' Trevor Rogers and Mt. Diablo's Herschel Turner.

Come check out the Rumble in Oakland, January 9-10th at Open Gym Premier, in Oakland, California.

This is a prep and post-grad event hosted by Prolific Prep and Golden State Prep. Teams included are Golden State Prep (Black and Grey), Prolific Prep Green, Utah Prep, LA Premier (Black and White), West Valley Prep and WV Club.

The games are morning to mid-day games for easier viewing for College Coaches. Games start at 10am on Tuesday and run till 2pm. Games start at 9am on Wednesday and run till 1pm. See the schedule link below (at the bottom of website)

Caden Pinnick (Del Oro) won the MVP at the Kendall Arnett (Placer). Had 41 in the semifinals against Rio Americano and added 31 in the finals against Placer.

Charles Williams (Marin Catholic) had 37 points against King on Day 3.

Jackson Lloyd (Carmel) had 21 points and 20 rebounds in winning tournament MVP at the Carmel Invitational

Dion Coleman 5-foot-8, 190 pounds RB Chico (2024)

Coleman has a tough running style in breaking tackles and has good agility as seen in his second level cuts. Once he breaks free, he has the speed to finish big runs. Through four games, he has 62 carries for 718 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Jake Goldsworthy 6-foot-1, 210 pounds RB Amador Valley (2024)

Goldsworthy is a big back with a north-south running style. He can break tackles and has been productive against good competition. After running for more than 1,000 yards as a junior, Goldsworthy ran for 227 yards and three touchdowns last week against Monte Vista.

Donovan Rozevink 6-foot-3, 200 pounds QB Escalon (2024)

The running game takes the spotlight at Escalon, but Rozevink threw for 285 yards and five touchdowns in last week’s win over Oakdale. He showed improved accuracy and made throws from outside the pocket.

Tony Keck 6-foot-4, 200 pounds TE Clayton Valley Charter (2025)

Keck is emerging as a tight end with good size and athleticism to cause coverage issues. He had two touchdown catches this past week against Turlock in showing an ability to get behind the defense.

Dominic Kelley 6-foot-0, 193 pounds RB De La Salle (2025)

Kelley has moved into a bigger workload for the Spartans the past two weeks with at least 20 carries and 100 yards against St. Francis and St. Mary’s. 2025 is shaping up to be a good running back class and Kelley is in the mix at the top.

Jaden Jeffeson 5-foot-8, 150 pounds DB De La Salle (2026)

Jefferson is one of the region’s fastest players clocking in at 10.7 seconds in the 100 meters. He also possesses a strong skill set of adjusting to routes to come off and make plays. Jefferson is willing to come up and make plays against the run. Arizona offered Jefferson this week.

Palmer Riley 6-foot-3, 200 pounds LB Menlo (2026)

Riley is a sophomore to watch after corralling two turnovers and making plays in the backfield in a win over Menlo-Atherton. He also has good offensive line tape if he continues to grow throughout his high school career.

Congrats to Lynbrook who defeated Arroyo Grande 52-49 to win the 36th Annual Newark Optimist Club - Newark Memorial Varsity Tournament Championship.

All the Del Oro 3-sports star did in the semifinal at the Arnett Classic at Placer HS was score 41, 24 of those in the last 10 minutes as they held off Rio Americano.

Del Oro faces host Placer in the finals tonight, in a rematch of an earlier loss to Placer. I was in attendance as Placer bet DO that night…. I have no idea about the backstory, but for some reason Pinnick didn’t start and didn’t enter the game until either late in the 1st or at the start of the 2nd. I’m sure Caden P and his gang really, really, REALLY want this rematch!

Yup, I skipped a Gaels game for this.

Right now, Bullard is playing Pleasant Valley. and it’s 22-14, early in the 3rd, Bullard in front. Make that 25-14, time out PV. Bullard is on something like a 20-5-ish run.

In a game with big playoff implications with both teams projected as NCS Open Division teams, Cardinal Newman led almost wire to wire in a 68-45 win over Acalanes in Southern California. The Cardinals gained control with a 12-2 start in the second quarter to push their lead into double digits.

Cardinal Newman: Despite some turnover issues and missed free throws especially in the first half, the Cardinals got off to a strong start. They were the more physical team as seen in their defense and rebounding. Janelle Pena was good early as a post scorer and the Cardinals were able to get quick offense off misses with long passes for layups. As the game wore on, they started to shoot the ball better and ended up with 12 3s led by 10 from Kate Schat, who went over 30 points for the second time in the tournament.

Acalanes: The Dons, in conjunction with the Cardinal Newman defense, relied more on early three point attempts as opposed to getting inside. They were able to find some success on backdoor cuts as the game wore on. In the second half, their press bothered Cardinal Newman and allowed them to make some mini runs, but never enough to really challenge due to the big deficit (17 at the half). Karyss Lacanlale, Ariana Hallstrom and Sophie Chinn all had good moments for the Dons.
