What is ranking these days ???

In my opinion ranking these is ceazy and very influence my people with power and angles. True ranking doesn't exist these days. Take teams that good but dont have that long history are always rank lower then teams with alot of influence. Same with players but colleges know what the want in pecking order which is the true ranking. If ranking of players was right then everyone in the top 40 players would get a scholarship to top 100 schools in womens basketball.but we know that never happens. But is ranking anyway just someone opinion and the way they see something. Ranking is always good political or not but we know how this works. But it is what it is and always will be. Propaganda at its best!!!!!!!! But thats my opinion on ranking.

CAMPOLINDO 27 MILIPTAS 24

Campolindo.....07.....07.....00.....13.....27
Miliptas............07.....07.....03.....07.....24

We predicted that Campolindo would win 28-19, so we were not far off.....This was a real battle, but it was Miliptas who penaltized them selves out of a possible victory as they racked up 135 yards on 16 penalties.that all came at the worst time, but Campolindo was not far behind with 8 penalties for 65 yards, 40 yards coming in the first quarter....In the first quarter, the Cougars ran the ball three times for two yards, but the first two pass plays turned into sacks for five and seven yards, but the first Score came on a 75 yard bomb from Westphal to Max Flower on a side line pass with 8:42 left on the clock...Now The Trojans pass game was red hot in the early going, mixed with a sold ground game as Miliptas marched down the field and capped the drive with a 33 yard pass play.
After the 75 yard score, the cougar passing game went dead as the QB missed five atempts in a roll, falling short or uncatchable...But in the second quarter the cougars were marching and got down to the 10 yard line, only to fumble with the clock reading 5:30, but a few minutes later, Matthew Ringquist burst thru the left side of the Trojan line and scored on a 20 yarder....but earlier in the second quarter Miliptas bulldozed their way from the three yard line, carrying defenders in the process.with 9:55 on the clock....
Going into the third quarter it was tied 14-14, but Miliptas broke the tied with a FG from 20 yard out with the clock reading 7:11, but missed another FG with the clocking reading 1:09...
then things got crazy as a three player pass took place as Westphal fired a side line pass to Young who in turn dropped a pass right into Torchio's hands and the Cougars pulled ahead 21-17 on a 66 yard pass play, but Miliptas followed suite with a 80 yarder pass with 8:11 left on the clock and they took the lead at 24-21, but the Cougars booted another FG from three yards out and tied the game at 24-24 and with .23 seconds left, blair booted another FG and the Cougars got by Miliptas 27-24
In the early going, the Campolindo pass game was going no where, but a change in tactic's took place when the ground game began to click...But the cougars gained only 68 yards on the ground, on 19 tries with six for no gain and three for only one yard. The passing game was better as Campo went to the air 29 times for 234 yards, missing 17 tries and hitting only 12 and was sacked four times for 29 yards. The cougars got 11 first downs , punted four times fumbled three times and lost them all, recovered one fumble while Miliptas racked up 15 first downs, punted twice, fumbled twice and lost both and the ground game rolled up 148 yards on 36 carries with five for no gain.
The big IF......If Miliptas had not committed so many penalties, there was a very good chance they could have won. As they worked into good scoring position, only to have it back fire.....So Campolindo travels south next week end....

Vontoure Classic - Beginning of my 3-Day Odyssey

I was at tonight's first round of the VonToure Classic, the first night of my weekend tour of three holiday tournaments.

Game 1 was Fairfield v. Clayton Valley Charter, won in double OT by CV. Not the prettiest game to watch, as a matter of fact rather ugly. Exciting, though... My guess is CV has some help coming when their football players finish up. Fairfield is pretty athletic, and will get some wins eventually... For now they are 0-5, but four of those losses were by 3 or fewer.

Game 2 was Serra of San Mateo v. James Logan. Serra established their will pretty early and won by about 20. Their sophomore big-man has ability, but he's got a long way to go. He is HUGE, though...

Game 3 was DLS v. Deer Valley. The Spartans toyed with their overmatched opponent, probably using only a very small chunk of the plays and strategies in the new system being put in place by their new coach. They won by 25 while emptying their entire bench in much of the last 10 minutes. It'll be interesting to see what they've got when challenged. I was talking to a guy that played a little college hoop and is a friend of one of the new DLS assistant coaches, and this guy said that DLS was going to run a lot more tempo.

Game 4 was Jesuit of Dallas v. St. Patrick's St. Vincent's. This one was an exciting and well-played game, close through three quarters before Jesuit pulled away late to win by about 10. I have an idea St Pat's/Vince could make a bit of noise later on in Div. 4 NCS.

The semi's will be DLS v. CV Charter and Serra v. Jesuit-Dallas.

My predictions: DLS by over 20 and Serra by 10. DLS should win the final comfortably.

For me, it's on to Gridley tomorrow before I go to Carmichael for the Jesuit tourney on Saturday.

Saturday

Division 1-A

Clayton Valley Charter (12-1) at Oak Grove-San Jose (11-2): Injury-plagued Clayton Valley has won 12 straight after beating Concord 23-22 in NCS final; Oak Grove (11 straight wins) is peaking following three consecutive wins over WCAL foes. Injuries forced Ray Jackson (2,127 yards, 20 TDs) to be CVC’s QB. Oak Grove is led by Rashaan Fontenette (2,468 yards, 36 total TDs), “the best athlete we’ve seen all year,” said CVC coach Tim Murphy. Winner plays Narbonne-Harbor City (12-2) or Ridgeview-Bakersfield (13-0).

Division 2-A

St. Francis-Mountain View (11-2) vs. Pleasant Valley-Chico (12-0) at Harrison Stadium-Oroville: The hosts, the alma mater of Aaron Rodgers, have a balanced offense (165 yards passing per game, 181 running) and a strong defense. Division 3-A

McClymonds-Oakland (12-0) vs. Sacred Heart Prep-Atherton (10-3) at Independence High-San Jose: First meeting between the two. McClymonds hasn’t lost since 2013 regional final at Central Catholic 17-14, a span of 24 games. The Warriors are led by a rugged defense, active secondary and junior RB Jerrell Alberty, the OAL Player of the Year. SHP is led by third-year starting QB Mason Randall (2,434 yards, 23 TDs) and rushers Lapitu Mahoni (1,555 rushing yards, 26 TDs) and Isoa Moimoi (885, 14). Winner plays Rancho Bernardo-San Diego (11-2) or Oak Hills-Hesperia (9-5).

Please explain.......

how St. Francis and Milpitas lose in the playoffs but are allowed to continue? If that's the new normal, shouldn't the NCS D1 team that loses to DLS in the NCS finals be allowed to move on and continue to play? That's the one team year in and year out that has 0% chance of going to State. Obviously, I'm an EBAL Homer but I can't think of a bigger underdog every single year than NCS D1 teams not named DLS.
