WEEK FOUR PREDICTIONS ..DFAL,DVAL,BVAL,EBAL..FREE LANCE

League play begins this coming Friday for the EBAL and the DFAL and one game in the EBAL between California-San Ramon Valley could tell the rest of the EBAL who to watch out for...Another interesting game between Foothill and Granada could see just how improved Granada is when you take a look at their W/L record...Foothill had little trouble with the preseason as their young QB took control, but a look at the defense shows they game up 92 points in four games, so this could be their week spot...
In the DFAL, Dougherty Valley have come of age with a 4-0 preseason record and we will see just how good they are when they meet Las Lomas....
The game of the week takes place at Pittsburg when the Pirates host the bulldogs of Vacaville, a lot of fans have been looking forward to this meeting, both teams have not been up to par, so this could be another wild shoot out. While Freedom travels to W.C. Wood of Vacaville...both teams are dangerous on the run as well as thru the air, so its possible that a scoring record may be set.

FREELANCE
Logan 3-1 at Castro Valley 1-3.....Logan 30 Castro Valley 19...The Colts dropped a 42-13 loss to Clayton Valley charter last week and should be back on the winning trail against the Spartans...
DLS....BYE

GAMES OF INTEREST
Rancho Cotate 2-1 at Casa Grande 0-3........RC 39 Casa Grande 13.....After the lopsided loss to Antioch last Friday night which wasn't expected, the Cougars will regroup and hit the wining trail..

EBAL
San Ramon Valley 1-2 at California 2-1.....California 28 San Ramon Valley 17.....The grizzlies were in a serious battle in the first half against Liberty but took over in the second half with a convincing 42-24 victory that over shadowed their 28-0 loss to Pittsburg...San Ramon dropped a surprise loss to Logan, so as EBAL games go, this will be a hard fought game...
Granada 3-1 at Foothill 4-0.....Foothill 34 Granada 20.....Since Woolridge has taken over at QB for the Falcons he has directed this team to four straight victories....When Woolridge isn't going thru the air, he has Issaiah Floyd and Cash Connolly leading the ground game which makes the combination hard to deal with... Granada is off to a 3-1 start in the preseason, so now its do or die time in EBAL league play..
Monte Vista 3-0 at Livermore 3-1.....Monte Vista 35 Livermore 14...the cowboys are much improved, but they face the Mustang's who have one of the best QB's in the area in Jake Haener who riddled Pittsburg in a wild high scoring 49-42 win and then blew by SHC 41-6....

DVAL
North Gate 3-1 at Amador Valley 2-1....AV 34 NG 14.....The Don's dropped what looked like a sure win against Freedom. but came rolling back and took care of El Cerrito 28-7...AV has size and speed and a QB that can find his target's...North Gate can run as well as pass as well, but will it be enough??
Concord 3-1 at Deer Valley 1-2.....Concord 41 Deer Valley 13.....Deer Valley looked good in the early going and they showed a lot of life at the LMC passing tourney and they scored 29 on Campolindo, but the Minutemen have a tough defense....

DFAL
Miramonte 4-0 at Alhambra 3-1.....Miramonte 52 Alhambra 34.....The Bulldog pass defense is still weak and the Mat's will take advantage of it plus a good ground game.....the Bulldog defense was shamed against Rancho Cotate and then later gave up 26 to Washington...Miramonte is a scoring machine right now, so Alhambra has to go all out or it will be lights out like the RC game...
Dublin 4-0 at Campolindo 3-1.....Campolindo 41 Dublin 20.....The Gael front line has not been battle tested in a weak preseason series of victories...The Cougar defense has been giving up points, so this is their weak spot and they come at you on both the ground and in the air.....When they faced Napa, the Indian defense was aggressive and bottled up the run and had the Qb on the run, so this is what Dublin has to do if they want to win...
Dougherty Valley 4-0 at Las Lomas 1-3.....DV 38 Las Lomas 13....DV has turned a new page and has come on strong in the preseason...the Knights face a different Wildcat team..this should be a real test for both teams as DV looks for their first league victory...

BVAL
Concord 3-1 at Deer Valley 1-2.....,Concord 41 Deer Valley 13
Berkeley 2-1 at Heritage 2-2.....Heritage 28 Berkeley 19.....Heritage took care of Acalanes last week to the tune of ...29-7...Berkeley has been struggling...while the Patriots have been improving.. The Yellow Jackets could surprise Heritage, so they have to be sharp...
San Leandro 0-4 At Liberty 2-2.....Liberty 40 San Leandro 12......After that 42-24 loss to California, the Lion's had a tough practice week, so you can bet that Liberty will be ready for the Pirates.
Antioch 4-0 at Pinole Valley 3-1.....Antioch 52 Pinole 32.....Both teams know how to score, but Antioch is the true scoring machine...
Vacaville 1-2 at Pittsburg 2-1.....Pittsburg 42 Vacaville 34.....Not much defense in this game, but you never know....Vacaville was on a rampage last week and got by Enterprise 49-45 while Pittsburg was going down to Monte Vista 49-42 a week ago...Bioth teams most likely have addressed their defense so we will see what happens...
Freedom 3-1 at W.C.Wood 3-0.....Wood 56 Freedom 45.......this score could be just the reverse, so its all up to the defense.....

GRANITE BAY vs. FOLSOM

Sierra Foothill League's Granite Bay(3-0) and Folsom(4-0) meet this Friday night.
The Folsom Bulldogs(state#11) vs.The Granite Bay Grizzlies(state#39) starts league play for both teams.
The Grizzlies are 2012 D1 State Champions (win over Long Beach Poly) and The Bulldogs are 2014 D1 State Champions ( and were one of the best NorCal high school football teams ever- win over Oceanside). Granite Bay's Defense has played well allowing 25 points in three games. Folsom's offense has scored 179 points in four games. Can the Bulldogs keep their 36 regular season game winning streak going or are the Grizzlies ready to pull off an upset? Good Luck to both teams.

LEAGUE PLAY BEGINS FOR EBAL AND DFAL

This coming Friday, the EBAL and the DFAL kick off the league play and both leagues look to be black and blue when its all over with....In the EBAL, Granada and Livermore have had a banner preseason and now this coming Friday comes the real test to see how they do against each other in the EBAL
For the EBAL this is how they came out so far in preseason..
Foothill.....4-0
Monte vista 3-0.....Faces CVC on 10-2
Granada 3-1
Livermore 3-1
California 2-1.....Faces DLS on 11-6
Amador Valley 2-1.....Meets North gate this coming Friday night
San Ramon Valley 1-2.....Faces DLS on 10-9
For the DFAL, this is how the preseason came out..
Dublin .....4-0
Miramonte.....4-0
Dougherty Valley.....4-0
Campolindo .....3-1
Alhambra.....3-1
Acalanes.... 1-3
LasLomas .....1-3
As you can see, Dublin, Miramonte and DV have really come on strong, but the team to watch is Miramonte as they have made major changes in the offense and it showed right off the bat...Jr QB Tim Tague has taken over from Anderson who has become a sure handed receiver along with Lindberg...Couple up with hard running back Clayton Stehr, and the Mat's have become a scoring machine...

Local QBs leading CCSF and CSM

Anthony Gordon (Terra Nova/CCSF) and Dru Brown (Los Gatos/CSM) were both under recruited last year and both won starting jobs. Each have led their respective teams to a 3-0 start and the #2 and #3 ranking in CA. Both Gordon and Brown have 7 TD passes and Brown has another 2 rushing TDs
Great to see them doing well. They both should get a shot at the next level if they keep this pace up.
