Folsom #1 team in the state!

I know this will ruffle some feathers. And that is it's intent. So, here goes...

DLS gave up a HUGE amount of points to Centennial last night. From what I saw on tape and heard on these forums, you guy's made it sound like DLS never gives up a point. Can you imagine how many points Folsom would have put on them!?
Also, Folsom's defense was MUCH BETTER than Centennial's. Did you see how many points that team gave up in the Socal bowl game!? Unbelievable.

Also, I watched DLS have multiple false starts on that "quick snap." First off, they only called a few. There could have been at least 10-15 more. You have to come SET before the ball is snapped. That was ridiculous.

Due to the fact we will never see this game, I will make my prediction...drum roll.............Folsom 65 DLS 52. That my friends, is the truth about that matchup THIS year. Folsom is the best team in CA!

****I also saw more players than I have EVER seen dressed for a football game for DLS. Must be a lot of BART passes on that sideline. Most of them NEVER got into the game. Will they get the same criticism? Doubtful. But as I have said before, the TRUTH IS ALWAYS IN THE TAPE.

Folsom- BEST team in CA!

Serra transfers

With Serra now on CCS probation and banned from football playoffs in 2015 and 2016 (with an appeal pending), will CCS officials grant Serra football players transfers with immediate eligibility? It would seem only right and fair. Why penalize student-athletes who had nothing to do with Serra's administrative decision to bail on CCS playoffs in 2014 at the 11th hour?

DFAL PREDICTIONS 1/23/15

Campo- Bye. Well deserved, enjoy it.

Dougherty Valley @ Las Lomas- Should be the best game in this league tonight if the right DV team shows up. Las Lomas
has had a long time since losing at the buzzer to Dublin and now it's time to get back to business. Wood, King and Prince will eventually wear down the Wildcats and try and take away Fadal, DV's best scoring option. If Wood guards him and takes him out of his up and down game, this game could get ugly.
LL 77 DV 62

Dublin @ Miramonte- Dublin is on a two game winning streak and Miramonte is coming off back to back home losses to Alhambra (you heard that right) and Concord. Dublin will not take them lightly and Falls & Knox are the two most exciting players to watch in this league (I said exciting not best, so calm down Hansen and Wood fans). This game will be somewhat close and probably for at least a half but the Gaels will have there way once the Mats give up like they've been doing all year.
DUB 78 MM 65

Acalanes @ Alhambra- I would love to say that Alhambra's short winning streak will continue here but I am not that optimistic. This will also be one of the better games to see and if it wasn't for DLS & SRV, I just might have gone to this game. Hewitt is one of the finer players in this league and he can score from just about anywhere, so I am thinking that Alhambra will do it's best to shadow him all night long. I think Acalanes wins a close game and prevents the upset.
ACA 62 ALH 55

HMB puts 20 on TERRA NOVA

It what was billed as a good match up, HMB put it to the Tigers. Coming off what was a tough week for the Cougars dropping 3 of their last 4 games, The Cougars seem to of found themselves on this Fri night. They went to the break lead by Tomberlin's four first half 3's up by 12pts 32-20. Coming off the break with much improved guard play, decision making and some quality minutes from Freshman Anna Cordes they wrapped things up with a solid 60-40 win. HMB was lead by soph point gaurd Walling with 15 followed by Tomberlin's 14. TN was lead by Sheedy's 13.

NEW GIRLS BASKETBALL

TOP 20 OVERALL RANKINGS

A dear friend has an expression he claims was from his days in
Philadelphia that has always resonated with me. It's an expression he
uses when describing a difficult task.

"It ain't nothin but a ride down and a walk back," my friend chuckled
over the phone while celebrating MLK Day and his 79th birthday at the
same time.

Well, in the case of top-ranked Mater Dei of Santa Ana, it was a bus
ride up to Northern California for the St. Mary's MLK Showcase in
Stockton on Saturday and a bus ride back down to Orange County right
after the game, something not unfamiliar to the Monarchs' caravan.

"For us to drive seven hours yesterday and come here to play a very
good team and win like we did was great," said Mater Dei head coach and
the state's No. 6 all time winningest girls coach Kevin Kiernan after getting career head coaching win No. 658 in a 67-45 dismantling of a very solid Miramonte of Orinda.

Soon after making those comments, Kiernan and the Mater Dei troupe
boarded the bus for a ride that would get them home around 3 a.m.

Ironically as he was leaving, one of the next teams up on the St. Mary's floor was Troy of Fullerton, Kiernan's former school.

Speaking of Orange County, two of the four newcomers this week join
Mater Dei in the rankings. Orange County Register No. 2 Brea-Olinda
(Brea) returns after being previously ranked while No. 3 Foothill of
Santa Ana makes its first appearance.

EBAL Prediction 1-23-15

I have my ticket for the big game this evening and can't wait for what should be great basketball. As we head towards the conclusion of the first half of league, here are my thoughts on the contests for tonight:

FOOTHILL at LIVERMORE - The Falcons have had one heck of a stretch, playing some of the best in league. They get to switch auto pilot on tonight and coast to a much needed victory. FOOTHILL 63 LIVERMORE 38

AMADOR VALLEY at MONTE VISTA - The only thing that concerns me is if the Mustangs have a let down moment after such a big victory on Tuesday. Amador has shown that it can compete for part of the game against SRV and DLS and it would be best for MV to take it to them fast. The LaShelle brothers should have plenty of success against the AV interior, even with Chaffee in the middle. MV 62 AV 51

CAL at GRANADA - The Grizzlies got their first win of the league season but I don't see them getting another win until they face Livermore again. Granada has been disappointing to watch, with Johnson shining but very little supporting cast. For this evening, all will be well in Matador land. GRANADA 59 CAL 43

SAN RAMON VALLEY at DE LA SALLE - This game has so many implications and it's only the sixth game in league! The Spartans have to win this game in order to avoid a two game gap from first place. What I noticed from their game against Monte Vista was their defense, and how it is not what it has been in years past. The point blank shots that were being given up shocked me and it needs to be corrected tonight. The Wolves have been given little respect with many saying they simply earned the five victories that they were supposed to win. For those who have doubt, consider the fact that they beat a host Granada, something MV failed to do. DLS, MV, and SRV have all faced Foothill as the visiting team. Monte Vista almost lost although they held a good lead, they imploded and a missed lay-up would have beat them. DLS was only up one possession with two minutes to play. SRV entered the 4th with a one point lead before starting the final period on a 17-0 run. The Wolves have shown that they are capable of being in the top position and tonight could be a defining moment for them. My gut tells me that DLS will take this because they are going to be a pissed off group looking for revenge from earlier in the week. Lack of common sense says the Wolves can win this and really shake the league up. SRV 60 DLS 58

Enjoy the games!

New Asiasi Offers

I see where Devin Asiasi just got offered by a couple more big time programs, Michigan and Nebraska. The sky is truly the limit for this kid. Congrats! It just dawned on me that these schools may be hedging their bets in case they don't get Matt Snyder? I'm sure both schools would love to have both Snyder and Asiasi.

Roberson goes off for 44 pts & Stallings had 37

outstanding game; Cordova started strong 23 to 8 after 1st quarter; Liberty Ranch showed why they were 18-1 as they cut a 20 pt deficit to 6 but Big Red would roll on behind 20 pts by Roberson in the 4th quarter to leave the Hawk's fan standing in the bleachers some in disbelief others in sure amazement. final score 97 to 82.

Cordova - Roberson 44, JaQuan Lewis 20, Christian Munoz 14pts / 14 rebs

Liberty Ranch - Stallings 37, Windley 18
