2014 Boras Classic

If they can improve the field in next year's Boras Classic the same way they improved it this year, it will soon become the preeminent HS aged baseball tournament on the West Coast, if it hasn't already.

This year in the north, only Rio Americano, Christian Brothers, Foothill, and Stockdale couldn't be considered among the top teams in the area, and they aren't that bad. We got to play De La Salle, St Francis, Davis, and Buchanan, and I can tell you no one could be more proud of going 3-1 against those monsters in 4 days!

Clovis West beat Foothill 11-7

Elk Grove beat Granite Bay 9-4. (Ty Madrigal with the win. Mitch Hart with the loss)
Rio Americano beat Christian Brothers 5-3 (Top 20 ranked CBS goes 0-2 on the first day)


Pleasant Grove beat De La Salle 1-0 (Brett Elgin and Justin Hooper were the starting pitching matchup)
St. Francis-Mountain View beat Yuba City 2-0

St. Francis beat Pleasant Grove 3-2
De La Salle beat Yuba City 4-3

Half of the semi-finals are set with Elk Grove on one side of the bracket and St. Francis on the bottom half. John Gavin is available to throw on Wednesday or Thursday.

WCAL recap from April 10

St. Francis beat Sacred Heart Cathedral 18-1. Blake Billinger had a home run and 5 RBI.

Mitty beat Riordan 4-0. Joe Cahn and Max Werner each had two hits. Tommy Hudson picked up the win with 3.1 innings of relief work.

Serra beat Valley Christian 3-2. Matt Blais threw a complete game with five strikeouts. The result leaves St. Francis and Mitty is a co-lead in the WCAL.
