Antelope wins 72-43 according to SJS website. I see the same type score in the final vs Del Oro. Del Oro beat Laguna Creek 53-51.
Yes, they will be in Norcals as 4 from each division get a seed. It will be interesting where they get seeded after this loss. If they drop to D2, watch out. I would think they would be a low D1 seed though and would have tough time with some of the top seeds.Do 4 teams go to Norcals from each division in the SJS?
Just curious in LC qualifies for norcal still?
After the Open the CIF balances the NCS, CCS, and SJS. Outside of Saint Marys at least the top 4 to 5 SJS teams will be in D1I would agree if LC gets put in D2 they will be formidable.
I guess it probably depends on if the CIF fills out the D1 bracket completely with all 16 spots. If LC had made the SJS D2 finals I would have thought Norcal D1 would be assured but now with the loss a round earlier I think D2 is more likely which actually plays out to their advantage.
Win for losing.....a competitive equity staple
The top 5 to 7 teams in SJS will be open-D1.SJS will see LG placed in D2. I will be shocked if they are in D1. Which I can understand. My list for top SJS right now:
St. Mary’s
Antelope
Oak ridge
McClatchy
Granite Bay (two wins over Del Oro)
Del Oro
Christian Brothers
Laguna Creek
Vista del Lago
But why would Salesian go over Pinewood if the committee uses head to head? There's still an argument for 3 NCS and 1 CCS...With the CN win over Salesian tonight. That could potentially put Antelope as a 2nd team from SJS instead of 3 from NCS. If CN had lost they would have gone ahead af Antelope in the OPEN for sure with the h2h over Antelope. Now with CN winning that potentially opens up that final spot. If would not shock me if Antelope gets it. 2 from NCS. 2 from CCS. 2 from SJS.
And Salesian would be doing cartwheels as the 1 seed in D1.
Curious why all of these posts have Nor Cal sending 6 teams? It’s a 16 team bracket with 8 in the North and 8 in the South. Why is everyone speculating on which 6 are going?
Hey they may take Clovis and Clovis west to round out 8
Last year the North only sent 6. The year before they sent 7. No guarantee they’ll send 8 this year.

Ok but why does there HAVE to be 2 from CCS but there doesn't HAVE to be 2 from the SJS?I agree... but I believe 2 HAVE to go from the CCS otherwise why have an OPEN division?

Presumably that's the function of the Open -- to let the best teams play each other in the spirit of competitive equity. You could argue that the SJS D-2 champ isn't as good as the runner-up in D-1, but if you have an Open, there's no argument.
It's also really simple for the committee, which has to seed 14 divisions in a six hours (seven boys and seven girls). You just cherrypick the Open finalists and you don't have to spend too much time on deciding the Open teams. I also think CIF would love to have SJS have an Open division, so they might take Antelope just to encourage SJS to get a move on -- in other words, we're going to take two anyway, so wouldn't it make sense to have an Open?
But then again, who knows? If La Jolla Country Day loses to Cathedral Catholic, then now two San Diego teams are the in SoCal Open. If the Central gets two, there are only four spots left for the Southern Section, which is loaded. If you want the best 16 in the Open, at that point you pretty much have to shift at least one of the Clovis teams north.
Or not.
What would they have done if LJCD lost last night in the semi's? They only won by 2! Now that would have been a messAnd if LJCD takes care of business in the SD section that would leave 6 spots for the Southern Section. Of course upsets in the Central and San Diego sections change all the dynamics.
I agree... but I believe 2 HAVE to go from the CCS otherwise why have an OPEN division? So if the CIF does 6 again that leaves the 6 spot for either Salesian or Antelope. Of course if they go 7 or 8 then there is no issue as they both would go.
If they did 8 it's easy as 2 from SJS, 2 from CCS and 4 from NCS. (Assuming no Clovis teams come North)
Both Mitty and Pinewood should be going to Norcal Open for State. They play each other for the CCS championship Friday at Maples Pavilion. Pinewood beat Menlo 58-33 and Mitty beat St. Ignatius 62-31. It should be a great game. I think Norcal sends at least 7 to state.
