Aptos Mariners (CCS D4 winners last season, D3 champs over St Ig both times in 2014 and 2013) are 30-3 over the last three seasons against teams in the CCS, including last two season opening wins over Salinas (17-12 last season). Mariners are expected to compete in the Open D2 or Open D3 Playoffs this season.
Salinas Cowboys made it to CCS D1 Open Playoffs last season losing in the CCS playoffs.This season should be start of uptrend and the Cowboys will compete in the MBL Gab against Palma and Hollister for league title and again most likely in D1 Open CCS playoffs. The Cowboys have a very strong junior class and should be in a big uptrend with their wide open spread attack but very competitve this season with returning all their o-line and a good core of skill players. Salinas Cowboys lost to Palo Alto 42-38 in the CCS D1 Open Playoffs. Salinas field (The Pit) is one of the best venues to play a game - smaller but the stands are almost on top of the field and loud.
