shocked if SHP wins but hopeful for a gator victory. just dont see the lancers losing again to the prep. Will be at SHP. Gators beat St. Francis in December and have continued to improve since then, but Isaiah Kerr has gotten healthy for the Lancers.
not a disgruntled parent , just a long time wcal observerbut Motil is a terrible coach. i know he has a decent resume but good lord his team just quit on him. good news is drizzling in atherton , which city folks would call an average summer night in bagdad by the bayMonday's 2nd Round Pool Play Results
Pool A
Pool B
- Valley Christian 49 @ St. Ignatius 68
- The Wildcats cruise to the win setting up a winner take all in San Jose to get to the Finals
- Serra 42 @ Mitty 57
- Mitty methodically takes down the Padres. Seeks win #3 against SI at home to set up a 3rd straight CCS Open crown with a win on Friday.
- Bellarmine 33 @ Riordan 75
- Not a typo. Crusaders send a message in beating the Bells for the 3rd time. (no easy task against a league opponent). Riordan had 4 new starters when it first met SHP in December and appear to be rolling. Going to be a colossal game in Atherton Wednesday night as winner goes to Santa Cruz for an Open Finals appearance.
- St. Francis 55 @ Sacred Heart Prep 69
- The Lancers had the Gators on the ropes with leads as large as 19 points. SHP storms back in the second half and wins by double digits. Gators host Riordan Wednesday night as another winner take all to earn a trip to the Final Friday night.
Mitty has been formidable all year...Serra seemed a little slow tonight. It looks like the back to back games against SI took a physical and emotional toll on them. Mitty couldn't miss in the first half. Serra looked better in the second half but it was too late. Its to bad their best player and only size is playing with one hand. He had some impressive blocks and finishes inside. If he was healthy I think Serra would surprise some teams. He is easily a 20 and 10 guy. I am surprised he is only going DIII for college. He could easily play at some low DI's .
Agree. Hamilton has an under 20% acceptance rate. Excellent school and great opportunity for him.Mitty has been formidable all year...
As a old basketball guy, agree with you on the Serra kid - GK. He's a very good player, good motor and good footwork. Yes his game could have allowed him to play other places but good choice in a school ...Hamilton is a great liberal arts college and a solid program. Too many people get hung up on divisions at college level. Honor to play at next level. Wish him well !
Kind of hope S.Cruz doesn't make it. Avoiding Open competition and the automatic bid would only be right.Santa Cruz lost to Aptos, 50-47.
Maybe they didn't belong in the Open Division after all.
I think the three at-larges for the CCS will go to Carlmont, Mountain View and Santa Cruz.
Usually the CCS sends the Division Finals runner-ups as it’s at-large teams, but not sure if that changed.Santa Cruz lost to Aptos, 50-47.

Armchair. They would've got better at Riordan. And you get exposure from the summer. Nothing beats game time and learning how-to play under pressure and in-game situations. I don't care if you had John Wooden running workouts daily. You don't get better being a spectator at games. Especially the younger player in that equation. But to each his own. I know Seck wished he would've stayed as he has mentioned it several times and even mentioned it on his Instagram Posts. But wishing those 2 the best.Credit goes to Coach Curtin, his staff and his players for “buying in” , improving each week playing a very tough non-league schedule and earning the success that has come with it. Was just thinking about Mor and Zion - no doubt competition is great at PP, but nothing beats winning in a HS environment enjoying the journey with your teammates and classmates. Pretty sure they’d get just as much college exposure if they stayed .
