Will be at SHP. Gators beat St. Francis in December and have continued to improve since then, but Isaiah Kerr has gotten healthy for the Lancers.

shocked if SHP wins but hopeful for a gator victory. just dont see the lancers losing again to the prep.

St. Francis has been decimated by injuries throughout the year. If they are 100% healthy, they could make it a game.

Monday's 2nd Round Pool Play Results
Pool A
  • Valley Christian 49 @ St. Ignatius 68
    • The Wildcats cruise to the win setting up a winner take all in San Jose to get to the Finals
  • Serra 42 @ Mitty 57
    • Mitty methodically takes down the Padres. Seeks win #3 against SI at home to set up a 3rd straight CCS Open crown with a win on Friday.
Pool B
  • Bellarmine 33 @ Riordan 75
    • Not a typo. Crusaders send a message in beating the Bells for the 3rd time. (no easy task against a league opponent). Riordan had 4 new starters when it first met SHP in December and appear to be gelling at the right time. Going to be a colossal game in Atherton Wednesday night as winner goes to Santa Cruz for an Open Finals appearance.
  • St. Francis 55 @ Sacred Heart Prep 69
    • The Lancers had the Gators on the ropes with leads as large as 19 points. SHP storms back in the second half and wins by double digits. Gators host Riordan Wednesday night as another winner take all to earn a trip to the Final Friday night.

not a disgruntled parent , just a long time wcal observerbut Motil is a terrible coach. i know he has a decent resume but good lord his team just quit on him. good news is drizzling in atherton , which city folks would call an average summer night in bagdad by the bay

Lancers came into the year as solid contenders for WCAL and CCS Open titles as they returned a ton of firepower with their pair of 6-2,guards , 6-7 shooter, returning role players and adding a transfer and stud freshman.. Don’t know much about Motil, but really surprised the team could not hold a 14pt halftime lead. What happened?

Serra seemed a little slow tonight. It looks like the back to back games against SI took a physical and emotional toll on them. Mitty couldn't miss in the first half. Serra looked better in the second half but it was too late. Its to bad their best player and only size is playing with one hand. He had some impressive blocks and finishes inside. If he was healthy I think Serra would surprise some teams. He is easily a 20 and 10 guy. I am surprised he is only going DIII for college. He could easily play at some low DI's .

Mitty has been formidable all year...
As a old basketball guy, agree with you on the Serra kid - GK. He's a very good player, good motor and good footwork. Yes his game could have allowed him to play other places but good choice in a school ...Hamilton is a great liberal arts college and a solid program. Too many people get hung up on divisions at college level. Honor to play at next level. Wish him well !

Agree. Hamilton has an under 20% acceptance rate. Excellent school and great opportunity for him.

Traveled over the Dumbarton Bridge to Atherton last night to witness my first BB game in person since pre-pandemic! Riordan v SHP was played at a pretty high level - I can see why SHP was so highly regarded as a solid team. Frankly I was pleasantly surprised by how much Riordan has improved over the season. Playing in the competitive WCAL even in a down year like this one tends to do that. Sanni is the real deal - super impressed w/ his overall game. Even got some "free basketball" as Kiddman is wont to say. Rooting for the young gritty little Crusaders to pull off the upset vs Mitty in the CCS Open Final down by the Boardwalk.

Came away impressed with Riordan's D throughout the game and keeping the game close. The Crusaders simply made the plays and got every crucial rebound to gut out the win. Edwards did a great job on their 6-6 big Nichols. They will need more of the same to take away the title from Mitty tomorrow night. Good to see this team coming together at the right moment.

Santa Cruz lost to Aptos, 50-47.

Maybe they didn't belong in the Open Division after all.

I think the three at-larges for the CCS will go to Carlmont, Mountain View and Santa Cruz.

Kind of hope S.Cruz doesn't make it. Avoiding Open competition and the automatic bid would only be right.

Usually the CCS sends the Division Finals runner-ups as it’s at-large teams, but not sure if that changed.

Congrats to Archbishop Riordan in defeating Archbishop Mitty for the 2022 CCS Open Title
Final Score: Riordan 68 Mitty 51
Riordan denies Mitty a 3 peat for the CCS Open Title. A decisive victory tonight avenging last year's OT loss. Next up NorCal seedings on Sunday. Hoping the Monarch's Isaiah Cabebe is ok after his hard fall tonight.

Good win. The Crusaders are back.
The 2022 team got better as the year progressed, after looking very shakey at the start. They spanked Mitty tonight to avenge two losses. One loss to Mitty was a Fluke.

Again good win Crusaders. Imagine how good the Crusaders would've been if Seck and Sensely stayed, instead of waisting a year in Napa.

The last three years For coach Curtin. 2020 WCAL 🏆 co-Champs. Playoff run halted, due to covid [and they would've taken D1 title]. Last years team, 2021, lost in CCS open Division title game to Mitty in OT. Riordan went an overall 26-4, 14-4.

This year, second place in WCAL, 2022 CCS 🏆 Champions in Open Division...the season has been a success, regardless of what happens next in Norcals. Riordan will probably be in Open Division.

Credit goes to Coach Curtin, his staff and his players for “buying in” , improving each week playing a very tough non-league schedule and earning the success that has come with it. Was just thinking about Mor and Zion - no doubt competition is great at PP, but nothing beats winning in a HS environment enjoying the journey with your teammates and classmates. Pretty sure they’d get just as much college exposure if they stayed .

Armchair. They would've got better at Riordan. And you get exposure from the summer. Nothing beats game time and learning how-to play under pressure and in-game situations. I don't care if you had John Wooden running workouts daily. You don't get better being a spectator at games. Especially the younger player in that equation. But to each his own. I know Seck wished he would've stayed as he has mentioned it several times and even mentioned it on his Instagram Posts. But wishing those 2 the best.

Go Crusaders!

Wanted to say other than the furthest possible site coming from SF that the Kaiser Permanente Arena is an awesome venue for a HS Championship. All seats were GA meaning you could grab a floor seat! Every seat, tho, has a great view of the court compared to a cavernous Arena. As long as the Title games fall on a weekend and it is a bit later starting time (8pm) this totally works.

Really happy for coach curtin his staff as well as all the players who stuck together and played
for each other!
