Austin Mack of Folsom is the best QB in the state of CA

Interesting. Serra doesn't seem to have the offensive scheme to showcase that kind of talent from what I saw. Maybe they have progressed?

Didn't Smith drop a dime against Folsom for his first passing TD of the season?

I thought Serra was a running team and someone on here said they are a spread passing team.

Smith tossed multiple TD's against Salinas last week and Salinas has D1 recruits on their roster. Smith beat Mack head to head and is still undefeated after QB'ing his team past the top of NorCal including Folsom. To top it off, Smith has multiple D1 offers.

Smith plays on the best team in NorCal that has beat all of the top teams NorCal, has dozens of D1 offers, and will most likely lead his team in the CIF open division championship against MD or SJB.

Can someone put up these two QB's (Smith/Mack) 2022 season stats?

Week 0 isn't a great head to head indicator. Serra ran a wonky veer type offense the entire 2nd half against Folsom. The QB looked pedestrian and Folsom lost Lyons in the 1st quarter.

Mack is better.

He just threw for 500 and 8 TDs without him :)

So Mack is better than Smith.

Smith threw for 500 yards against Salinas last week.

Plus you mentioned week 0, Folsom had already played a game, Serra didn't scrimmage or play a game so that was their first action of the season and Smith still beat Mack.

Also, the other QB Atkins that ran that veer type offense when Serra played Folsom is also better than Mack.

The QB position is about more than just size and offers. Evaluate the QB based on who he's played and how he functioned at his position in each game. When you think of Folsom you think of Flores & Lyons, not Mack. When you think of Serra you think of Smith, the king of the NorCal QB's.

Mack stats this year.

3125 yards
40 TDs
3 INTs

Crazy!
What’s even Crazier is Mack’s Stats against teams that could actually Beat Folsom….

Serra- 228
PITT- 150
DLS- 185
Rocklin- 178

Total TD’s- 4

Looks like the kid looks great against all the lower level (D2) competition in Folsoms League (DO, GB, Rocklin, Whitney). But still he really struggled against D2 Rocklin….

PITT’s QB outplayed him throwing for 285 and 2 TD’s against that Great Folsom Defense…. Unfortunately for him, he threw 4 picks to hand Folsom the game….

Put either The Pitt QB or the Del Oro QB on Folsom and they are State Player of the Year…. As I said, there are 20+ QB’s in Nor Cal that can do what Mack is Doing on a loaded D1 team against D2 Competition…. Nothing Impressive…

Rashada of Pitt has more D1 skill players then either Mack or anyone else which makes it more baffling why he has t beaten anyone in his career

His skill guys are committed to Washington, Oregon state and Boise state currently

Even crazier is how much better Mack's numbers are, which includes NorCals top league! :)

34 TDs

Mack is a fine player. 99% of all HS teams would love to have a kid like that. But he came in expected to be the player he is now becoming.
I just hope he picks a school where he can play.

I will say Lyons for all the hype the Stanford Choice suits him well. You get a great education and play for a team that sac state can beat. Stanford is not relevant in football.

I was just messing with patsy. I don't know either kid an d hope the best for both. I actually like the fact that these 2 kids are getting attention for their athletic accomplishments.

If I came off as though I was bashing the kid that was not my intention. I was simply screwing around with Patsy.

Excellent point made that against good teams Mack has just average statistics. Reminds me of Jake Browning when he was setting all types of hs records. Folsom kept him in blowout games and allowed him to pad statistics, but when he palyed a really good team (FDLS for example) he was just a good qb with little mobility.

Brown (Mater Dei)
2494 yards
29 TDs
4 INTs

Ehh I would say Jake Browning was legit and lived up to the hype. He was a heisman candidate, holds records at UW, and currently is getting paid more than everyone on this forum to be a back up qb in the NFL….
Only team he struggled against ever was some dominant DLS squads.

Regarding Austin Mack, I think he’s a really good player and definitely has a shot to be good at the next level with his size and accuracy but to claim him the best in the state of California is a bit much. He’s only a junior so let’s see how he does next season with Rico Flores or Onterrio Smith. Speaking of which, if those two kids don’t play Friday I think oak ridge has a real shot.

Aaron Rodgers had 2466 yards his senior year. Tom Brady threw for 3700 yards and 31 touchdowns his whole high school career. So what’s your point when you mention Brown or Smith. Jared Goff threw for 7700 yards and 98 touchdowns. I threw 3 current NFL players out. Guess which one has had the worst performance of the three

Bogus Stats…. MD has Twice as many Rushing yards and Rushing TD’s as Folsom Does…. That will impact a QB’s Stats….

Plus, MD isn’t Throwing TD passes up 55-27 on their last possession of the game to pad their stats like Folsom did against CC….

Elija Browns Stats Against BG, SJB and Cen10…. 675 Yards, 6 TD’s….. That’s much more impressive than anything the Folsom QB has Done….

Who knows…. Now that Folsom has Conquered DLS Maybe Folsom will schedule up next year so their QB can show off his talents and prove your case for “#1 QB in CA” against Cen10, MV, SJB or even better, head to head against Brown and MD….. 🤣

Hitting the nail on the head. This dude literally starts posts about greatest QB in the state. And now unfortunately it leads people to say no he isn’t which is fact, but for adults to talk about a kid who is 16-17 like this is not cool in my book. Especially when Folsom is rolling, being humble ain’t for everyone. Fact is he is not the best. And my comment above proves how the QB position can be overblown just my stats.

Mater Dei could have run up the score on a few teams. Guess what, that would pad Elijah’s stats

I think Folsom could hang with C10 and MV but they would get their doors blown off against md/SJB. Hell everyone does! But you’re definitely right Elijah Brown is by far the most impressive qb in Cali. Undefeated since freshmen year on the best team in the country.

Exactly!…. And I don’t want to come across as Bashing the Folsom Kid, but these threads take on that tone when @pastyfastquick3 is involved because that is the direction he takes everything….

My point is just to argue the fact that the Folsom QB is not the #1 QB in the state or even Nor Cal for that Matter…. That doesn’t mean that I don’t think the Kid is a Great player and doesn’t deserve scholarships or whatever…. I hope he gets a free college education all of his dreams come true….. I wish the same for all these kids, because like you said, they are kids…. 🍻

Totally Agree!!!… Folsom vs Cen10 or MV would be great games!!!….The MD QB has started since a FR on the #1 Team in the Country and he is just an Jr…. He has earned his spot as #1 in CA….

Ironically the kid doesn’t probably think he is best quarterback in the state as well. I don’t wish the same. But to start threads like this is pathetic in my book cause stats really don’t carry any weight. And if any of the best quarterbacks in this state go to big time schools, one fact always remains. The college is looking for the best QB every year. Not oh we got our QB for the next 4 seasons. To me just like in the world of basketball so much is put on these kids. It’s not cool in my book. Cause after high school especially on the football field is a long road left. Ask Brady and Rodgers what they think of Goffs high school stats

Sounds like more excuses for having lesser stats. I will post them again so you can see the difference. The best part is- Folsom's strength is it's defense this year :)

Totally Agree!!!…. My Brother played for CVC and played against Tom Brady their SR year…. There was no hype around Brady and My Brother had no idea that he played against Tom Brady until like 5 years ago when his Buddy posted an old newspaper picture on Facebook of my brother trying to sack Tom Brady…. 🤣

I played in HS with a QB named Mike Pawlawski who played for Cal and was All Pac10 and won a Bowl game….. His stats in HS were not great at all and he was even Named All County and All State at DB and not QB…. But he went to Cal because they were one of the only Schools willing to play him at QB and he went on to be one of their best ever…. Dude was an absolute Warrior and a Great Leader…..

HSFB Stats never tell the whole story on the Quality and future success of a QB…. If that was the case then The Bennett Kid from Folsom would be starting for Alabama instead of fighting for playing time at his third College…..

Browning was legit. He is probably the best high school QB who I have seen play live. That makes him the best QB that Folsom has fielded of those I have seen play against MT. His stats may very well be padded, but he is still the best of their QBs. That list includes Graves, Bennett, Reithmeier, Tremain, and Mack. Mack still has a season left, so his status is provisional.

34 TDs
8 INTs

Brown (Mater Dei)

Everyone that has brought a name to the table, saying they are better than Mack, have come to the table with lower numbers and excuses.

You are correct including Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. You are 100 percent correct that certain names brought up had lower numbers in high school and one had incredible numbers. So again if the three names I brought to the table, which one has had the least satisfying career. And hey I will take a step further.

Jared Goff 3 seasons 12,000 yards at Cal
Aaron Rodgers

Tom Brady two full seasons at Michigan 4600

Aaron Rodgers two full seasons at Cal 5500.

So again what is your point.

And by the way currently yards wise he is 95th in the nation. And 10 other quarterbacks in California have more yards. The top guy nationally is at 5000 and 58 touchdowns and he is a junior. So guess a lot of guys fall short when it comes to yards in California.

According to you and @THEOC89, stats don't matter.

Therefore, Mack is the best QB in CA!

According to YOU.....Folsom collects banners not stats? dont make me go find your quote!
Hahahahahha! Happy thanksgiving guys! It’s been a great year on the grid iron. Great memories being made for those young men.

Pasty...Best QB in California? Undisputedly Tanner Wilson from Sunnyside in Fresno. QB rating 142 - Completion percentage 0.763 - 4,310 passing yards - 462 rushing yards - 50 TD's - 8 Int's - Just a sophomore. And remember you wanted to know who is the best QB in the state. You didn't want to know who is the best QB among the elite schools in the state. Josh Allen went to Firebaugh and he turned out pretty good.
