NEW GIRLS BASKETBALL

TOP 20 OVERALL RANKINGS

Not surprisingly, there were few changes in this week's rankings as
league play is concluding in some CIF sections with several teams
knocking on the door should they pull off upsets in the upcoming
playoffs.

While our rankings don't mirror the seedings of the CIF Southern
Section Open Division, it illustrates the differences between seedings
and rankings where in our methodology results outside of the CIFSS and a
team's overall body of work may allow it to be ranked higher than it is
seeded.

There certainly was no disagreement in the top three seeds with Mater Dei, Long Beach Poly and Chaminade falling into place.

We also have No. 5 seed Sierra Canyon ranked ahead of No. 4 Alemany
based on our assessment of their resume but an argument could be made to
have Alemany higher, so we moved up the Warriors and will see what
happens if both win and they face each other in the second round.

In the bigger picture, it doesn't look anyone outside of those five
teams is going to be in the CIFSS Open Division semifinals so almost all
of those other teams will be bouncing down into CIF divisional playoffs
where several of them will be state contenders, even favorites.

Interesting.

Some people on this forum don't believe Sacred Heart Cathedral is a Top 20 team in NorCal. Cal-Hi has them ranked #19 in the state! I agree with Harold on this one. ;-)

As usually Cal-Hi going off the past history of teams but all this non since of ranking some team been all year. At least NorCalPrep up dates with how teams are playing this year not last year. NorcalPrep and Maxprep are very close in ranking except for some. Vanden lost to Modesto Christian by 10 points why most not ranked. Salesian lost to Brookside Christian that has 2 lost with the total points 6 both games to SHC by 4 and Berkeley by 2. Oaks Christian lost to Ventura and Mark Keppel both of them aren't ranked. Narbonne with lost to Troy and Lynwood but they aren't rank either. Stop going off the past and get with present day not yesterdays. I could go on and on But Harold will always be about teams of the past.
