We got off to a late start due to a power outage at Independence at halftime of the girls game, necessitating a change of venue to Piedmont Hills. The good thing is, smaller, livelier gym. The atmosphere is off the hook. After one, VC 17, Aragon 9. Alton Julian with 14 of VC's 17 points.

At the half, VC up 29-18. Julian with 16 points on 6-8 shooting.

End of three, VC up 44-27. Aragon shooting just 25% to VC's 45%.

And it's garbage time. Final score 57-36. At one point Julian had almost as many points (23) as the Aragon team (27). Jay Allen-Tovar with 10 points and 20 rebounds.

When was the last time VC won anything in basketball? Great job so far by coach DeLuca. I don't see them as a high seed which will mean they could be a sleeper pick with the right matchups.

Is it true that Aragon, despite a finals appearance, won't be allowed to be included in Sunday's CIF seeding for NorCals?

I think Aragon is out because Mitty, St. Francis, and Serra are D2 and were in the CCS open. I think only CCS D1 and D2 get the winners in since both divisions have 3 teams in the open. So Aragon and piedmont hills are out as of right now.

Aragon gets hammered twice. Its girls get the same hideous treatment. The people at Aragon must be fit to be tied.

This is comical. Valley and Aragon should be happy they made it to the finals St. Francis, Mitty, Serra and SI being pulled up to the open allowed a 2-12 team and in d3 a 4-10 team in a very average WCAL this year, win sectionals. Just goes to show you how bad CCS basketball is.

They may very well end up in the top 88. In the old system they'd be done for sure but I'm intrigued to see how this plays out.
