Marty Cole hit an RBI in the bottom of the ninth and the Irish beat Mitty 1-0 at USF.

A 1-1 contest was blown open by six Padres’ runs in the sixth inning as Serra (8-4) stayed tied in the loss column with St. Francis atop the West Catholic Athletic League. The Wildcats (5-8) committed seven errors in the loss.

Patrick Caulfield had a double and reached base three times while junior Cameron Barstad (Oregon) had two RBI and reached base in all three of his plate appearances.

It was a bullpen game for Serra, which used four pitchers (none for more than 2.2 innings).

St. Ignatius senior Andrew Williamson went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI in the loss.

#12 St. Francis 9, Riordan 2

The Lancers have won five in a row after scoring their second most runs of the year. They scored five runs in the first and three in the second.

Junior Ryan Jeffries had a home run and three RBI for St. Francis. Five pitchers combined on a three hitter including four shutout innings from JT Folan to start.

Sacred Heart Cathedral 1, #17 Mitty 0

Sacred Heart Cathedral (12-2) got a walk off single from junior Marty Cole to score senior Erik Ochoa and even their league mark at 2-2.

Junior Eric Casillas threw seven innings of six hit ball for the Fightin’ Irish and senior Frank Marcon tossed the final two to pick up the win.

Mitty (7-4-1) is still looking for its first win in the WCAL. Haydn King was terrific in a no-decision in only allowing two hit batters to reach base in seven innings of work. The San Francisco bound King struck out eight.

Freshman Nick Yorke and senior JP Caldwell each had doubles for the Monarchs.

#18 Valley Christian 5, #4 Bellarmine 1

Valley Christian (5-5-1) scored two runs in the first and two more in the fourth to beat Bellarmine (8-3) in the top WCAL game of the day. Junior left-handed ace Patrick Wicklander (Dallas Baptist) threw 6.1 innings and gave up seven hits, two walks and a run while striking out seven. Junior Ryan Belluomini, sophomore Nick Marinconz (Cal Poly) and junior Dawson Brigman (California) all had multi-hit games for the Warriors.

Junior Connor Henriques had a RBI double in the fifth inning to score senior Connor Mack (California) for the Bells, who started junior Joe Ammirato.
