Using your example, I would still categorize Mission as "mid-major". Lost plenty from their 2015 DIII NorCal semi (Drake)and 2016 DIV NorCal Qtr (Palma) team, but still team speed on defensive end and disciplined offensively. Like last year, will not be at full squad til January. Best player (two time AAA Player of Year) out due to shoulder injury (football). Suspect in paint, but no team faster on defensive end.

Sure they might be mid-majors but they are Gonzaga, Wichita State, Butler, Northern Iowa - i.e, a team you don't want to see in your bracket come tournament time.

Mission is REALLY GOOD this year. They apply the type of pressure that will play a factor all the way into March. Really impressive team.
