The game of the week is between Foothill and California....If California wins , we have a two way tie for first place...If California looses, they drop to fourth place, Foothill holds first place and if Monte Vista and Amador Valley win, they move into second place. We have another big game between Berean Christian and Valley Christian, both are 6-1....Another game to keep an eye on is if Concord can give Clayton Valley charter a game.
FREE LANCE
Del Oro 2-5 at DLS 6-1.....DLS 48 Del Oro 3......Del Oro before the season started looked to be a challenger, but they have had a rough season so far and DLS will make short work of them...
GAMES OF INTEREST
Sat. 10-24
Pinole Valley 5-2 at St. Mary's of Albany 4-3 At 1:30 P.M......St. Mary's 35 Pinole 20....The Panthers made short work of Hercules last week, a team with size speed and a good QB.. Pinole Valley got by Salesian 45-40 last week while St. Mary's took care of Hercules, so now were have a battle for first place as both St. Mary's and Pinole Valley are tried for first place, the winner holds first place....
Berean Christian 6-1 at Valley Christian 6-1 at Dougherty Valley at 7 P.M......BC 39 VC 24.....This is a battle for first place also...If BC wins, they hold first place and VC drops to 3rd place while John Swett and DeAnza move to 2ndplace....If VC wins, we have a four way tie between BC,VC, John Swett and DeAnza,so there is a lot at stake.
Salesian 3-4 at El Cerrito 2-5 at DeAnza High at 7 P.M......Salesian 40 El Cerrito 21...The Chieftians lost a 45-40 battle to Pinole Valley and while EC is struggling, they can still be dangerous.
EBAL
Foothill 8-0 at California 5-2.....Foothill 28 California 17......California has to play four quarters to stop Foothill who took care of Monte Vista....The Falcons come at you thru the air and on the ground...Foothill jumped off to a 21-10 lead on the Mustangs and the grizzlies can't allow that if they want to win...
Monte Vista 5-2 at Granada 3-4.....Monte Vista 35 Granada 20....Every team in the EBAL can surprise you so
Granada can't be taken lightly..
Amador Valley 5-2 at San Ramon Valley 2-5....Amador Valley 28 San Ramon Valley 17....Amador Valley got by California last week in a surprising win and now they must deal with the wolves...
DVAL
Concord 5-2 at Clayton Valley Charter 6-2.....CVC 35 Concord 14.....The Eagles won't let their guard down against the Minute men, looking back at last years first game, so you can bet that the defense will be hard nosed...
College Park 1-6 at North Gate 4-3.....North Gate 32 College Park 25 ...The Falcons finally found a way to win, now the question is can the follow thru and do it again, The Bronco's may have their hands full Friday night...
Mt. Diablo 1-6 at Ygnacio Valley 2-5.....Mt. Diablo 39 Ygnacio Valley 27....Both teams are unpredictable, they are either red hot or very cold...
DFAL
Alhambra Valley 4-4 at Dougherty Valley 6-2.....Dougherty Valley 40 Alhambra 26.....The Bulldogs have serious problems stopping the run and you can bet that the wildcats will be coming at them full bore....Alhambra needs a win to make the playoff's, but with a 5-4 record they won't last long in the first round, if they do win and top Las Lomas the next week, they may survive the first round.
Las Lomas 1-6 at Dublin 5-2.....Dublin 35 Las Lomas 7.....After last week's upset by Alhambra, the Gaels will come out to send the Knights home fast....
Acalanes 2-5 at Miramonte 7-0.....Miramonte 49 Acalanes 20......The Mat scoring machine will not let up and get prepared for the following week against Campolindo...
BVAL
Freedom 3-4 at Deer Valley 3-4.....Freedom 39 Deer Valley 34....this could be a wild scoring game, the wolverines hung in there with Pittsburg and they should do it again against Freedom...
Antioch 7-0 at Liberty 4-3.....Antioch 52 Liberty 14.,..The Lion's struggled against Heritage last week and now they face the likes Harris and the gang..
Heritage 3-4 at Pittsburg 6-1.....Pittsburg 34 Heritage 24......the Pirate defense has been generous with the points, but just maybe they get down to business this coming Friday night...At present, we have a three way tie for first place between Antioch, Pittsburg and Liberty in the BVAL, so it should narrow down to just Antioch and Pittsburg...

Great as always... I just don't see Dublin scoring that many points.. Dublin 14 Las Lomas 14----tie ballgame haha

I would have Dublin winning 17-7 and not sure if you haven't seen Alhambra play all season Bluedog but stopping the run is about all Alhambra can do. They shut down a big line and good RB from Dublin last week and are usually susceptible to passing teams. If DV can sling it this year it looks to be a high scoring loss for the Bulldogs. If DV looks to run the ball, i see the score being 28-21 a la last year

Well that makes sense because Dublin can't pass. I mentioned before in my posts that Wade needs to implement a short pass game....bubble screams and slants to keep teams from stacking the box. Or spread the field with 5 wideouts and have the QB run the wildcat. Just enough to keep them honest. Dublin should be able to run over LL, DV and have much success running on Miramonte.

Beatenpath2.....I gave up on Alhambra and I've been a bulldog fan for years....For the last several years Alhambra continues to make the same mistakes over and over again and they become their own worst enemy...Alhambra needs to hire a coach that can teach pass defense and a coach that can teach the line how not to create penalty after penalty....How a Jv team that went 9-1 could turn out a 4-4 is a shame.....

A Cal win over Foothill would really throw a monkey wrench into the EBAL race, especially if both MV and AV hold serve in their games. As good as Foothill has looked this year, it is not out of the question. Cal has beaten Foothill 6 of the last 7 times they have played, with the lone exception last year's close 21-14 loss at Foothill. This one is at Ernie Berger field and the Grizz will have a homecoming crowd backing them, and a chance to beat their frosh QB from last year who is now guiding the enemy and knock them out of first place.

If the Cal D can play all game like they've played the second half the last few games, then I like their chances. If they let Foothill get out to an early lead, they may not be able to catch up. Should Cal, MV & AV all win, then all 4 teams would have just 1 loss with 2 league games remaining for AV & MV, and 1 game left for Foothill and Cal. But that 1 game remaining would be Cal vs. MV for the Grizz, and Foothill vs. AV for the Falcons. What a finish to the EBAL season that would set up. CalPreps has this handicapped at 21-17 (Bluedog has 28-17) for Foothill, which is close enough that anything can happen. This is a must win for the Grizz if they want a chance for a share of their 4th consecutive EBAL title.

I can see Dublin running over those teams and even running on Miramonte, but that game wont be close. Mira will win by 3-4 TDs and call it a day against Dublin. They will finish 7-3 in my opinion. As for Alhambra, they need a half decent defensive coordinator, several times during the game I saw the D-Line blatantly slant to the wrong direcrion and im unsure if this is bad coaching or bad playcalling but the D coordinator is horrible for Alhambra. He literally loses them games. The JV team 9-1 was comprised of Beck and Ramirez and those two great players are the reason they had so much success. Second year football players turned into starting both ways on varsity because of that much raw talent. Alhambra's team this year is composed of over 20 seniors and i am flat out disappointed in them this season. However, if they win out then they have a good chance at a good seed because D3 is garbage this year. We will see

The last bit of drama for Foothill before the cross town rival game. This could play out like last years Granada game vs Foothill. Keep the ball out of the Foothills Offense hand. Foothill's Soph QB is pretty impressive from the film I have seen. Looks better than his predecessor.

Are you comparing Wooldridge to Kearns during Kyles soph season? No way he's as good right now ask Kearns was last year.

Going to the Liberty against Antioch game. Really unfortunate to hear about the sidelines transgressions by Shurod Thompson and the Liberty staff. Apparently he removed his uniform during the game, only to be put back in on the winning drive at the end of the game. It will interesting to watch an alleged star recruit vs. the best player in the country. I have Antioch winning 48-7.

Everything is pointing to the huge showdown between Antioch and Pittsburg for the BVAL title.

Speaking of BVAL transgressions I heard there was an incident at the Deer Valley v Pitt game where DV continued their pre-game warm ups on the field while Pitt's band was doing their thing. I read somewhere that DV coach wasn't at practice Monday because of this but really don't know any facts besides what I wrote above.

Paloma...Did Shurod Thompson conduct him self this way at Pittsburg, if so, he won't last long in college football as those coaches won't put up with that stuff...Its too bad, this guy is and can be a great football player...It seems we have a few guys that think the world circles around them....I'm going to the Concord CVC game and see how the Minutemen do against the CVC defense. I'd like to see Harris in action, but I can't get to Liberty in time, but the Antioch/Pittsburg game sure is beginning to stand out....This is a must see game....

Yes years to years...sophomore to sophomore year. Looks pretty mature in the pocket as a 10th grader.

To be honest I can hardly remember Kearns sophomore year. It's a bitch getting old! Wooldridge did mange to win a big game last week helped by a big rushing number. He was 10 for 24 with a TD and a pick. Statistically it sounds like he did at least a decent job managing that game. Another big test for him this week against CHS.

Ridiculous rumors surrounding Thompson. But from what I decifer it was entitlement incidents on and off the field that are the reasons he is no longer at Pittsburg. Liberty is not a good school for a kid like him. Same over the top incidents occurred all year last year at Liberty with Williams. Walters obviously cares more about wins unfortunately.

What happened with Thompson? Did he not want to go back into the game to start the second half?

Willy Williams was benched pretty much every game for the 1st half or quarter, the PRIDE MATTERS crowd would chant every game "FREE WILLY"

Williams was suspended almost every game but still makes all league? Coaches nominate their own players if I am not mistaken. I don't know what happened excatly with Thompson. Just heard there was a disgreement and he was not suited up for most of the second half.

Jameis Winston was the Heisman. All League is what goes on on the field... He put up most his numbers in 3 quarters. IF the kid had an issue with tardiness or whatever, he paid his dues by sitting the quarter. As a coach it's probably very hard to balance talent and discipline.

Sounds like he was also sick at their Deer Valley game. Looked under the weather at Pittsurg last year too.
]
Didn't he go for over a 100 and 3 TDs against DV? I didn't know he sat out, and have no clue about last year. D1 talent , D1 attitude. If you were the coach, you would probably play him too. Easy to say from the stands.
