St. Mary's Stockton 44, Oakland Tech 43 -- suspicious ending

Back to basketball strategy discussion: cptmycpa says that SMS was inbounding the ball with "about" 32 seconds left. The shot clock duration in California girls high school basketball is 30 seconds. So if there were exactly 32 seconds left, the shot clock would have sounded and Oak Tech would get the ball with two seconds left. If more than 32 seconds left, they'd have even more time. If it was under 30 seconds, then yes, absolutely, the trailing team should be playing aggressive defense looking to force a turnover and or then fouling. Something sounds off about the premise.

Riordan 2027 WR Wesley Winn commits to Boston College

Wait…didn’t 5’5 Trindon Holliday contribute for LSU?
Yes, and he also scored 26 touchdowns his junior year (would be soph year if he reclassed). I don't think he'd have any problem taking a game over against Los Gatos either, which an SEC type player should be able to do. Najee Harris, Brock Bowers that's who the SEC comes out here for.

NCS open-division 3 seedings

I have Liberty up to 5
Dougherty to 6 and cal stays div 1

Or it’s liberty to 5 Cal moves into 6 spot and dv to div 1 .

Tough call w Liberty playing a low rated team. It is close really close

We will see how much the algorithm juices up cal for knocking off numero uno by a large amount
Latest rankings Zero movement with open. It appears they did an update on Saturday morning. Friday Losses/wins reflected before todays update.

It is ultra close for cal liberty dv every game matters

JV Invitational

Clayton Valley Charter beat Cal High and Carondelet on successive Saturdays to claim the JV Open title. (Hopefully next year, teams like St. Mary's of Stockton, San Ramon Valley, Oakland Tech, WCAL schools and Heritage will make room on their schedules Jan. 31 and Feb. 7). Cal High was third, knocking off Castro Valley Saturday at Carondelet.

Salesian outphysicaled Bishop O'Dowd to win the Division I title, with Northgate getting past Campolindo for third.

Freedom avenged an earlier loss to College Park to take the Division II bracket, with Harker defeating Amador Valley for third.

We would love to expand the event next year, but we would need to have another site.

All in all, the tournament went well, and the comments I heard were positive. Everyone liked the idea of some kind of season-ending event for JV teams so there was a conclusion to the season rather than just a league game that might or might not be competitive.

Thanks to all who participated and attended.

And the other 2 losses by Eureka were to St. Bernard's (25-1 #13) and San Marin (20-6 #19) both ranked below them in NCS..

Not sure I can trust the "algorithm".
