10th Annual Elite Showcase

Big +12 jump in the STATE rankings this week by BOD shoots them up to the 6 spot in the section. I agree JS does belong in D2. The BOD v Piedmont game is the big game coming up...BOD won the 1st matchup and if they win again will put them in as the #5 seed. A Piedmont win and I think Pied maintains the 5 spot. There is a big STATE rankings gap between the 4(CN).and 5 spot so i don't think Pied or BOD can catch CN UNLESS CN loses a league game (unlikely).

Am I mistaken? I'm assuming another potential (2)SRV v (3)CLET matchup in their league playoffs? The #2 seed, home court and a 1st rd bye all up for grabs in that potential big time matchup!

Agree, but you have to wonder how much longer is Belichek going to coach. I’m sure that the recruiting grind is going to take its toll on a man his age at some point, though the Belichek name is worth tons on the recruiting trail
For sure. That is the big question around North Carolina. But with the way recruiting is going and if you can hire a good GM, the recruiting side is going to look more and more like the NFL

Folsom at Grant 8-22-25

Why are some kids from El Dorado Hills not going to Oak Ridge? They have an incredible program with a rich tradition and some very notable alumni, including Austin Collie, Seyi Ajirotutu, and Ian Book. Is the allure of Folsom really that strong? Is the ice that much colder? I mean, who wouldn’t want to toss the ball to playmakers like Edwards, Womack, and the rest of the talent at Oak Ridge? It’s hard to imagine a better place to develop as an athlete and be part of a storied legacy.
That is a very good question. I think it comes down to exposure and the marketing machine Folsom is. There kids tend to get over recruited and on general OR is the opposite. Taylor reminds me of a very good old school HS coach who doesn't do a ton for his players in terms of next level. I say that knowing very well that is the case. Edwards is a 1x in 50 year unicorn. You can't teach 6"7 255 with speed. He could have gone to Mira Loma and gotten bama offer.

Yep!

D4 private* Justin-Siena having the 2nd best season in school history...

25-2 regular season. (potentially)
2 loses in NCS Open?
1st round loss in D1 Norcals?
3 straight losses to end season?
25-5...REALLY crappy way to end a GREAT season by JS potentially.

And the team sitting in the cat-bird seat?

Marin Catholic...

D4 teams...
CN, Pied, JS to Open
Salesian (#75 MP) moved up to D2..

MC (#137 MP) sitting there in D4 and gifted another watered down D4 section as the top teams get pulled AGAIN!

Competitive equity is awesome! (Eye roll)
MC will be in D2 based on MaxPreps rankings. They’ll likely be top 3/4 there depending on how they finish. Currently 18th in the section. Can only be pushed up 2 divisions thus sit in D2.

21013/14 Justin-Siena won 29 games and lost to Sierra Canyon in the D4 state title game.

This year's Justin-Siena team is the best team they have had since 2014-2015(Coach Bettencourt's first season). The best team in school history was probably the 2007-2008 team led by Vicky Deely(29-4). They lost to St. Patricks in the Norcal Final after beating St. Patrick's in the Section final that year. Janelle Travis's 2009-2010 team was 28-5, another very good basketball team. The 2013-2014 who played Sierra Canyon had girls go to SMC(walk on) and Chico State. The third player transferred to Sac State from Napa JC but I think she got hurt and never played.

Just as I had suspected.... Ala Chad Elliott. Blake Nycum from Folsom going to be a pacer. He was #2 behind Ryder last year as a soph. Very good player but on the smaller side which won't matter much at the hs level. Knows the Folsom offense well can can throw it. The issue at Folsom is their JV QB (Brody Rudnecki) is better than Nycum and Rudnecki is #2. (Btw he's an EDH kid) . Imagine if all these EDH kids stayed and played at OR?

NCS open-division 3 seedings

I still have Salesian as #1 in NCS. The Pride seemed sluggish and their defense gave up too many unchallenged drives and 2nd chance shots off rebounds. Only 2 losses outside the NCS incl the #1 team in CA-Harvard Westlake.
Recent topic is Srv and now Salesian

Nothing is more satisfying for Srv than slaying De la Salle. However the ultimate victory for Srv is a road victory over Salesian. The seperation between the two teams is not off by much. If any at all! I would say Srv “should” be basketball tougher than Salesian. Nobody has been battle tested more then their schedule. They attract big games within the EBAL. This is all pending the staff’s ability to continue what has been built and is present. This is the difference between the past Srv vs Salesian teams.
The opportunity is available to win that game. We are getting closer to that time of the season. Soon enough!

NCS post-season bracketing: What I understand

As well as, cut the number of teams that qualify per-division to 8, currently 16 per division qualify. The the total number of schools who qualify represents over 65% of all NCS schools. Why try so hard to build equity in post season brackets, with way to many teams and rules. The process seems like it can be simpler and more transparent.
First; cut the number of teams who qualify to 8.
Second: Open - 6 teams, D1 through D6 - 8 teams per division
Third; Top 6 teams - Open , take 1 through 48 and seed top to bottom (use MaxPreps rankings to start and adjust where it makes sense) break each division at 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48.
