CCS Finals Venues

I wonder what dictates which venues CCS chooses for “neutral “ finals games? Carmel is DV #1 seed and travels an hour as “The Home Team” to play TKA 4 miles from their campus. Westmont is a technically a neutral field, but it sorta feels like the original seedings didn’t have any influence on this decision.

I thought Rabobank would have been the perfect venues for this game. One of the top stadiums in NorCal. About 45 min drive from Carmel and about an hour for TKA. Maybe it made too much sense.

It comes down to cost is my guess. I think Rabobank has a bull fighting contest that weekend followed by the running of the bulls downtown.

My understanding is that Independence HS and Westmont HS are the default locations for the past few years for section finals.

In the event that there are two teams that are close teach other (Burlingame vs Carlmont) they will also use Sequoia or Terra Nova to the North or a venue on the other side of the hill if both teams are from Monterey, Santa Cruz, or San Benito counties. They also use SJCC sometimes if it is available and a larger crowd is expected. As someone mentioned above these venues are usually reasonably priced and available. I don't think they are waiting until the semi-finals are played and then scrambling to find facilities. They start with a basic plan in place.

Why is the D3 Open at 3pm and D5 at 7pm? The bigger game is the D3.

If you can convince CCS to swap them have at it! I'd gladly be home by 9pm when it will likely be cold and rainy this Saturday night!
