Central Coast Section Football Scoreboard

Not that hard when you only consider 3 schools in two sections... now compare all 90+ teams in CCS. Did HMB deserve to be down in D4? Maybe by size but certainly not by strength. Don't want the equity system? Fine, then why insist certain schools use the equity system - ie VC.

The competitive equity system has been a massive failure. Private schools and public schools are not created equal. That is why Public’s should get placed in divisions based on school size and privates are case by case. No, it’s not that hard. Only fans of private schools and large public’s don’t see the light. But that fine, it’s only ruining 15-18 yr olds hs football experience. Not to mention putting kids safety in jeopardy by have teams with 10+ kids over 250 lbs play a team with 5 kids over 200 lbs. In a climate of concussion protocol and limited contact in the off-season I find this appalling. CV beats Campo because they run up the gut every play and campo doesn’t have the bodies to stop them. It’s that simple. Just take a look at the rosters

You are trying to play the the parity game by roster instead of the parity game by outcomes. And throwing the Private vs Public card out every time your team has a challenge is bad posture. The supposed best team in CA is Private and the supposed worst team in CA Private. BTW, CVC is a PUBLIC school. Therefore, you have to switch to the Roster card for them. Maybe you should say "any school in the bedroom suburbs should be in a class of their own," unless of course those schools have better outcome performance, then maybe they need to play poorer outcome performance teams with better roster levels.

Say it anyway you want, but you are clearly after an easy trail to a championship game for your preferred schools. Problem is - there are not enough state divisions to get your idea to work.

You are complaining about a statewide system, not a local CCS issue. It is the state bowl system pushing all teams towards an equity system. I do get what you are saying - I just don't agree based on our current CIF arrangement. My favorite team/school is an out-of-state school or 400 enrollment 9-12. They are nearly always in playoffs every year and often state champs in their division. But it is only ratings provided by CalPreps/MaxPreps that tell how good they really are - or at least supposed to be. There is always bickering among fans and schools of who really is the best division. In CA, we don't have to guess.

My point is - no matter the system, schools, students and fans will always find something to brag about or complain about. Your argument has merit in the light of a different CIF scenario. But until the CIF changes its bowl setup, the equity system of playoffs will only get stronger.
