Yup, that’s what they call Miramonte’s gym...

The Campolindo Cougars invade the place tonight... On paper, this looks like it should be a comfortable Cougars win, BUT...

1) This is a rivalry game, actually my very favorite rivalry game. Anything can happen in these games and usually does.

2) The common-opponents results are remarkably similar, even though the overall records aren’t close (Campo’s overall record is quite a bit better).

Miramonte obviously has the home-dome advantage...

Fasten seat belts...

Miramonte scores the last 5 points of the half to lead 23-22 at the break.

Run-and-jump trapping D gets another steal and layup to close to 43-41 MM

Cougs take their first lead in forever with a 3, then add a steal/layup to go to 52-47... 19-4 run.

MM gets within 2 on a bucket and a later FT, then Campo scores to make it 54-50

MM gets Campo trapped, Campo time out... 13 seconds left, still 58-55... Campo ball at their own end

With 10.6 seconds to go, needing 3 points, MM tries to work it for a screened 3-pointer, but Campo thwarts that idea with sticky D... MM finally tries a contested 24-footer with a second left... Wide right, off glass no rim. Campo rebounds and hangs on!

58-55 final... This rivalry does NOT suck!

K32, question for you. Wouldn't the best case scenario for Campo to be seeded #25 in norcal, hence seeded #1 in D2? I fear they may be seeded #20 - #24, if they finish 6-4 in league and be a quick out in D1. What do you think?

I don't think about that stuff... Even if I did, it's wayyyy too early with several league games and then NCS before NorCal seedings come out.

Just play whomever they put in front of ya, and do your best.

It depends what your ultimate goals are. For a school with the pedigree and legacy in sports that Campo has, they likely have their sights set much higher than backing down into a watered down NorCal division. I’m sure they’re focused on winning the rest of their league games and trying to win NCS D3. If it’s Ygnacio Valley HS who has not won anything for a long time, then maybe any trophy or recognition would do.
