I like Riordan Scrimmage against DLS before the season starts. Monte vista is gonna get whooped.

Monte Vista has been in last place in the EBAL Mountain the last few years, and they now need a new coach. This isn’t the same MV team that people might remember.
The great shift happened in Danville since 2017 MV has only beaten SRV one time by a last second field goal in the rain. Kids want to go to schools that have a history of winning. SRV is clearly the third best team in NCS right now but we’re gonna see a drop off of the Wolves this next season. Cal could be a very scary team this year but they also hasn’t beaten SRV since 2018 with 7 straight losses. If they’re gonna beat them it’ll be this season.

That program seems to be in a downward spiral for some years now. That was once a pretty formidable NCS team. What has happened over there?

I hear that Bellarmine is going to schedule a couple of local public schools in order to get a few wins early in the year which I guess is the best way to go. The program is in dire straits for what looks like the next 4-5 years at least. I hope that they will be able to turn it around for the sake of the entire WCAL which is better when Bellarmine is competitive.

I find it so wild that Bellarmine has been allowed to go into this death spiral. Usually a school with this kind of history and alumni involvement isn't permitted to sink to these depths. Maybe the reasons have been discussed here already.

As an athletic program, Bellarmine is really excelling. This school year, WCAL champions in cross country and soccer. Finished 2nd in water Polo and wrestling, and made it to Nor Cal basketball playoffs. Just my opinion but the Bells do it respectably with kids mostly from their own backyard and not conforming to like how a few select programs that draw from multiple counties.

I see. Football is certainly a different animal. At the WCAL, SCVAL A level you have to draw kids artificially. "Walking the halls" is not going to get it done. Schools that refuse to conform to those norms, while noble, have no chance to play at a high level.
