97th Little Big Game

San Mateo dominated Burlingame, 35-10, Saturday in the 97th Little Big Game. The 25-point margin was San Mateo's largest since 1985. The Bearcats, 8-2, used a physical rushing attack to wear down the Panthers, 6-4, on the losers' field. The visitors attempted one pass; it was incomplete. Burlingame still leads in the ancient series between Peninsula Athletic League neighbors, 59-34-4.Both teams are projected to be participants in the upcoming Central Coast Section playoffs.

Golden out at USF!

This is the problem. While they are allegations, one could say they are just allegations against P Diddy too.

Dude was telling college student age females that they were “his drug” before games. He was taking picture of his ——you know what and sending them to Florida students.

While I’ll agree these are allegations, I would be absolutely stunned if he wasn’t able to keep his job.

What I don’t get is if someone wants to act this way, then be single. Don’t have a wife and kids that will be collateral damage When all the stuff hits the fan!

Diaz-Infante (Bellarmine)

The article is basically blaming the school administration for its strict admissions policy.
This goes all the way back to when there was a lot of chatter about "recruiting" but Janda was adamant he had no influence on admissions, that the school always took the best applicants on paper. The athletes they got were the athletes they got, the double wing Janda ran was a great system that allowed him to maximize their success in years when the football talent pool was thin.

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

It looks like our 23-24 football season has come to an end and St. Francis is the King of the WCAL.

Playoffs start next week and from what I gather from another poster PALbooster. There is a chance St. Francis and SI will rematch in the Open Championship.

Serra gets Riordan in a rematch in the 1st Rd as well.

Exciting times ahead in the post season!
I Luv the Serra vs Riordan matchup in the first round!,,,, Can Riordan and all that talent knock out the Reining Champ?…. Or do the The Champs end Riordan season in the first round?….. I can’t wait for this one!!… 🤣

Serra looks to build momentum heading into the playoffs

Serra once again relied on the playmaking of Nano Latu (touchdown run and touchdown catch) as they scored on their first three possessions to beat Valley Christian 29-3 and end the regular season at 5-5. The Padres, which have a win over Folsom and one possession losses at St. Ignatius, St. Francis and Riordan, look to control the ball with its ground game and a defense that can play fast and physical at times.

Valley Christian on the other hand dealt with injuries to their top two runners in the regular season finale, according to the San Jose Mercury News, which really limited their offense. After a slow start on defense, they played better as the night wore on. However, the Warriors will enter the CCS playoffs on a three game losing streak.

Matchups will determine a lot in a parity filled CCS, but after Friday night, it looks like Serra's arrow is pointing up and Valley Christian's is pointing down.

Suggestions for Modifying CCS Play-off rules

With 34 of 36 favorites winning as projected in Thursday and Friday's action, the 40 team field for the CCS play-offs is set and won't change based on the outcomes of the 10 games to be played today. Today's results will impact some seeding positions.

The only upset that impacted the field was Kings Academy beating Capuchino 42-6. This made Capuchino and Kings Academy Co-champions of the PAL- DeAnza League. Burlingame will get the league's 3rd automatic spot. Hillsdale can only tie for third with Burlingame by beating Aragon today and will lose the tie breaker with Burlingame.

Sacred Heart Prep has widened their lead over Carlmont and Sobrato for the last at-large spot and I don't think Carlmont or Sobrato can move up far enough (or SHP will fall far enough) in the CalPrep rankings to catch them.

Open/D1

Still have the Riordan vs St. Francis game today with seeds 3-6 being very close. The results of the game could move the CalPreps rankings and shift some of the seeding as Riordan is only slightly ahead of Los Gatos and Soquel in the CalPrep rankings. If a Riordan loss pushes them below Los Gatos and Soquel they would lose two points (Los Gatos and Soquel would each gain a point) and you can see below how that might impact seedings.

I did find an error in my prior calculations. I had awarded St. Francis and Serra a Championship point for playing De La Salle, but further investigation shows De La Salle is not eligible for the EBAL- Mountain championship. As a result San Ramon Valley is the league champion and that awards another point to St. Ignatius and Soquel. So far no change from last week's projections.

8. Salinas 8-2 66 (8) at 1. St. Francis 9-1 80 (1)

7. Valley Christian 5-5 68 (7) at 2. St. Ignatius 8-2 77 (2)

With Capuchino being upset they moved back to D3 and Santa Teresa returns to D2. Only team playing today is Monterey vs Seaside which is projected to be a Monterey rout.

D3

Aptos moves from D4 to D3 and Piedmont Hills dropped from D3 to D4. Burlingame plays San Mateo in a rivalry game (Little Big Game) with two reasonably matched teams. Burlingame is favored, but if they lose they will likely drop to D4 with Piedmont Hills returning to D3.

Dropped to D3 as no B league team can play in DI or D2

D4

Three changes here. Piedmont Hills drops from D3 to D4 with Aptos moving up. Kings Academy replaces Hillsdale in the field based on their upset win over Capuchino. Finally South San Francisco drops to D5 and North Monterey Academy moves up to D4. See above, San Mateo plays today , if they win they will likely be a 4 seed.

D5

Three new teams here as Overfelt replaced Pioneer, Stevenson replaced San Lorenzo Valley, and Sequoia has guaranteed a spot in the field and replaced Woodside as three spots were allocated to the Ocean Division. Stevenson and South San Francisco play today and are heavy favorites.
