Not bad for Gary Porter, Howard Porter and Bobby Cole who built Modesto Christian Basketball circa 1997.
This season's team is full flavored, rich deep complexities, bitter, and aged well with a smooth finish on Sisk Road. Best served with an Open State Championship!! Let's Go!!! Brice and Chris have a team that is battle tested mixed with a young wave of superior talent that includes a freshman that will turn your head. Speedy Gonzales would be proud!!

Suggestions for Modifying CCS Play-off rules

Awesome work! We appreciate you for keeping us informed! I'm looking at your last top 15 at large post and wondering how SHP widened their at-large bid with them losing, Carlmont winning and Sobrato Winning.

Looks like you had:

SHP at 20.5

Sobrato at 22 (my math shows 22.5, but you are the mastermind doing all of the hard work, so i trust you!)

And

Carlmont at 20

All before calpreps rankings. How are these points or maybe your top 15, looking post week 10?

Thank you again!

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

The teams which would give the south (MD, Bosco or Centennial; don’t sleep on the Huskies) just based on the way their offenses are structured as De La Salle and MAYBE St. Francis. Why do I say this? Well, talent aside both utilize offenses that go right at you and rarely lose yards.

When you stop De La Salle, it’s usually for a 1 yard gain and a loss of about 30 seconds. Same can kind of be said for St. Francis.

Serra, Folsom, SRV, Pitt and SI (doesn’t even sound right mentioning them in this conversation to be honest) do not have the patience to consistently try to go right at you and wear you down. They all eventually try to get cute and those 1 yard gains by DLS and SF turn into sacks, interceptions, or 5+ yard losses.
Very good observation… you are 100% correct

NCP Pick'em Week 12 Games

*Quick note: I moved the Gunn game to the one point slot since everyone took Gunn and it was played on Thursday. It didn't have an impact on the final Top 3.

Congrats to H.E.A.T. on the weekly win. Came down to the final game of the week! Also congrats to FBAddict on the overall title, NorCalSportsFan on 2nd place and THEOC89 on 3rd place. Once scores are finalized on Monday, I will work on adding subscription time to your accounts.

For those we are interested, I'm going to keep this going for the playoffs with the weekly winner earning a free month on NorCalPreps!

Finally, thanks for everyone who participated this year! I hope everyone enjoyed it!

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

Final WCAL week ranking - I would have posted this earlier but I had other family obligations.

Archbishop Riordan has gotten their strength back just when it counts. They displaced St. Francis as the sole WCAL champion forcing the Lancers to share that title with St. Ignatius. First, I will list the placement of the WCAL teams within WCAL according to record.

WCAL Record Placement

#1 tie St. Francis 6-1
The lancers lost their final game to Archbishop Riordan. This created a tie in first place with the Wildcats. Their only WCAL loss was to the Crusaders.
#1 tie St. Ignatius 6-1 The Wildcats tie for co-champion of the WCAL thanks to the Crusaders. Their only league loss was to St. Francis.
#3 Archbishop Riordan 5-2 The Crusaders had a difficult start in WCAL league play losing to St. Ignatius and Valley Christian but then coming back to beat Junipero Serra and St. Francis. They may have the most momentum of any WCAL team right now.
#4 tied Junipero Serra 4-3 The Padres ended the league season tied with Valley Christian. They have losses to St. Francis, St. Ignatius and Archbishop Riordan but beat Valley Christian last night.
#4 tied Valley Christian 4-3 The Warriors have lost momentum due to injuries in late season. They have wins against Archbishop Mitty and Archbishop Riordan but lost three straight games to St. Ignatius, St. Francis and Junipero Serra.
#6 Sacred Heart Cathedral 2-5 The Monarchs have a win over Archbishop Mitty but losses to all 5 teams listed above.
#7 Archbishop Mitty 1-6 The only league win the Monarchs have is against the beaten down Bells.
#8 Bellarmine College Prep 0-7 The Bells may have just finished their worst season ever. They not only went winless in WCAL league but also in their entire season. Hopefully they will find a way to get out of this slump.

My WCAL Personal Rankings

I am not quite sure what to do with AR right now. They are on fire and carry very good momentum into the playoffs. I might be inclined to put AR as #1 in WCAL right now, but I think its best to let them win that ranking on the field. Here's my best thought on rankings.

#1. SF - I am going to keep the Lancers in the first position because I don't want to place them in a three-way tie with AR and SI.
#2. AR - Due to current momentum, I am going to place AR above SI even though SI beat AR on the field. They might be able to beat SF again, but we will leave that for the playoffs.
#3 SI - The Wildcats could just as easily been placed over AR and maybe SF with AR's defeat of SF. But I think AR's momentum will prove itself later.
#4 JS - The Padres fit nicely here at this spot for now.
#5 VC - The Warriors started league play strong but have struggled to stay healthy. They may be one and out for playoffs.
#6 SHC - It seems the Irish will get a good placement in a lower division for playoffs.
#7 AM - The Monarchs are done with their season.
#8 BCP - Enough said.

SJS Playoff Brackets

I was shocked too. But they battled back to take the lead 44-41 with 4 minutes left. It was really nice to see the crowd yelling on every play and going crazy with the last TD and at game’s end. Pretty crazy considering Downey fumbled four times and had an interception but still came back to win.

Diaz-Infante (Bellarmine)

The DLS case is somewhat different. It does not have to deal with another parochial school within its area, or even all that close whatsoever. It's really the only papal ballgame from Highway 680 all the way east to Highway 5. There is no WCAL for DLS to worry about. Heck, there isn't much of any private school competition at all. Not even an SHP, Menlo School or King's Academy. The Central Coast Section is awash with non-public programs. DLS is immune to that issue. Not a bad way to live _ and thrive.
DLS has low academic admission standards. You can get D's and get in no problem.

Diaz-Infante (Bellarmine)

The blueprint started in the East Bay in the 90’s. Everyone on this board knows who the architect was. An on-board admissions protocol, a growing cadre of non-staff recruiters (all legal per NCS mind you) and a savvy AD led to national prominence. And then the $ flowed via sources very few can tap (see Nike/Paragon/ESPN !) and the “secret sauce” as many on this board have labeled it, flowed. The “Bishop’s” scholarship drew talent. The PI recruitment was active as witnessed with a former Mayor/Assemblyman entertaining 5-6 very large appetite Dads at the local Chinese joint.

Walsh was an ingredient in the sauce back then, thus, simply translated that to the South Bay, where the sauce ingredients were simply there for the pickings. The recipe was followed and applied to his program sans the veer.

Winner winner chicken dinner!

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

It looks like our 23-24 football season has come to an end and St. Francis is the King of the WCAL.

Playoffs start next week and from what I gather from another poster PALbooster. There is a chance St. Francis and SI will rematch in the Open Championship.

Serra gets Riordan in a rematch in the 1st Rd as well.

Exciting times ahead in the post season!

NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!
