Folsom does not deserve state championship rings

After getting pounded by DLS 2 years in a row, they used their proximity to Sacramento and crony connections to strike a back room deal that would prevent them from playing DLS in 2014.

High school sports are supposed to teach kids to work hard, become better players and believe in themselves.

The 2014 Folsom story is the exact opposite -- it's a story of cowardice, jealousy and taking the easy way out.

It's the latest example of the modern "every kid deserves a trophy" mentality.

Folsom should be ashamed.

ACL recovery time: Is nine months enough?

Brittany Sykes of Syracuse tore her ACL last March. In her third game back, just a couple days ago, she tore the same ACL again.

Obviously, it's different for every person, but it just seems to me erring on the side of caution is the way to go. If you have two ACL operations on the same knee, that's pretty much a guarantee of early arthritis and really, a lifelong issue.

Now if you're coming back for a contract worth several hundred thousand dollars, maybe it makes sense to push it. But Candace Parker rushed back in high school, and her knee still bothers her. She's a great player, but her defense is way below par, and some say it's because her lateral movement isn't there because of her knee issues.

Again, some kids are good to go in five months and never feel a twinge again. You just never know ...

Question - Oak ridge High Trojans

Can anyone tell me why Oak Ridge High School never plays in the tougher tournaments? Aren't they suppose to be good? We know people in El Dorado Hills were the high school is and they say it's all smoke and mirrors there. They normally have a good record but it's always against weak teams... The good teams beat them. It's all about money and who is in with who there... That's what we hear.
