Serra wins first game

[Where Are They Now]

Serra won their first game of WCAL beating the Crusaders prevailing 12 to 3. Serra's Nick Von Tobel got the Win on the bump with 2INN of work.

John Beese relieved in his first piching appearance of the season and pitched 4.2 innings. Scott Ota went five for five on the day,

Padres are 1-3 and 6-4 overall

So currently Serra is 6th out of 8 WCAL teams. Maybe a slow starting team this year, but going 1-3 in first 4 leagues games is not all that encouraging. Serra generally in recent years has such a strong program and last couple of years some major changes have taken place. I've heard that SF now pulls some players way from Serra, but it would appear it runs deeper than that. Is this year's team lacking in talent or ?

Did you see who their first 3 leagues were against? SF, AM, and VC...I might cut them some slack. Lot of WCAL left to be played this year. They have a good club, I would expect them to be in the thick of things as they usually are.
