Montgomery tourney, Day 2

MV layup rolls off, Monty ball...

Two MV fouls, next one is bonus...

Monty center charges... MV ball.

Monty gets a stop... So does MV. 3:32 left, MV ball, down 2.

Another barely-missed MV layup, but they get the ball back.. . 2:38 left. 41-39 Montgomery, MV ball.

3-ball in and out... Montgomery goes down and can’t get a shot off... but MV also fires an airball, Monty has the rock, up 41-39, 1:39 left.

MV steals! Driving layup misses, but fouled.. first FT goes, second FT goes. Tied up.

Monty gets it inside, center gets fouled. FT’s with score tied, 52.2 secs left... One for 2. MV has the ball, down 1, 46 seconds left... time out.

Dunphy drives for MV... Layup... rolls OUT! Montgomery has the ball in forecourt with a 42-41 lead, 23.5 seconds left. 22 on the shot clock.

Lucas fouled immediately.

1 and 1.

First one good... second one good!

MV manges to get a 3-ball off under heavy pressure... not even close. Foul, 3 seconds left. FT MISSED! MV throws it downcourt, throws up desperation 3... FOULED. No time on the clock...

FT good... FT good... Time out called! MV with another FT to take it into OT... Montgomery staff is PISSED!! They swear he was still on the ground... Third FT goes!!

We have my favorite two words... FREE BASKETBALL! 4 minutes of free mayhem, tied at 44.

Monty wins the tip, but MV steals... driver is fouled... 1 for 2 on the FT’s. Foul on 2nd shot rebound... Monty at line.. first one good, second one good. MV races downcourt, down 1... #30 is fouled. 2 FT’s, first missed, second made. 46-45 Monty, Lucas is fouled.. makes first, and second. Monty by 3.

MV misses driving layup, but Monty turns it over... almost. MV guy was on the sideline.

Lucas is fouled again as MV almost steals.. First FT good. Second one, on rails. Monty by 5.

1:51 left, Monty leads 50-45, MV has the ball, time out. Looking tough for the Mustangs here.

Whale of a ballgame!

GREAT defensive possession, MV forced to take a hotly-contested try inside... No go. Monty fouled, at line for 2, both missed...

Finally, MV scores, inside off a nice pass. 50-47 Montgomery, 1:03 left.

Montgomery manages to melt 12 seconds off before getting fouled... first FT misses. Second misses!

MV races down, gets off a couple hurried shots, no go... Lucas gets rebound and is hacked... Both FT’s on rails. 52-47. MV misses yet again, Lucas fouled, and there’s a T on the MV coach (I think). Lucas is getting target practice... four FT’s, nothing but net. 56-47. And I look up again, Lucas ouled again... more FT’s, both good... Do NOT foul that guy! Another foul after a miss, for a change they fouled somebody else. HE sinks ‘em both. 60-47. Game!

Campo by 25 tnite against Monty. No disrespect to Any of the teams but campo isn’t challenged this year by playing in this tourney.

Wow... Campo crushed Monty in the final, 68-27. Led 33-14 at the half.
