In the first two games, St. Mary's beat Tracy 6-3 and 11-7. The series concludes on Friday.

In the 11-7 win at Tracy, the Rams scored five runs in the top of the seventh.

Christian Almanza and Jordan Hernandez each had a home run and three RBI

Utah commit, Christian Almanza, is a BEAST! Most opposing teams tend to walk this 6'4" 230lb'er, knowing he can hit and hit hard. Almanza leads the league in SLG at .800. Out of 80 AB he has 16 BB and 3 HBP with an OBP of .575, second in TCAL league to his teammate, USC commit, Tyler Lozano, who is nursing an injury and hopes to return for the playoffs. Lozano also leads the league in batting AVG, with Almanza behind him in this category, as well. Rams are truly battle tested with a strong pre-league schedule and have yet to lose a league game. Their biggest test will come starting next week when the Rams take on cross-town rival Lincoln. First, they will need to tend to business against Lodi this week, starting tomorrow @ Lodi.

Rams successful in sweep of the Tracy Bulldogs, winning 3-2, with Christian Almanza getting walked once and going 2-3, including another HR and 2 RBI's. Utah has got themselves a playa!

One day after his 18th birthday, Christian Almanza goes 4 for 4 vs Lodi, including 2 HR's, as the Rams win their 2nd game vs Lodi 11-6. The Rams remain undefeated in TCAL league, extend their winning streak to 14, with one more game vs Lodi on Friday, looking for another sweep, before taking on the TCAL 2nd place team and cross-town rival, Lincoln Trojans, next week. This kid is special.

With another Ram (11-0 league) victory over the Flames today to complete the sweep "or" a Trojan (7-4 league) loss to the Bulldogs from Tracy today, St. Mary's will clinch TCAL league championship before having to faceoff against Lincoln-Stockton. GO RAMS!!!

Rams lost today 7-2.

With Lincoln beating Tracy today, Rams still hold a three game lead heading into the final series against the Trojans

In the loss, Lodi walked Christian Almanza 3 out of 4 at bats. Smart move by the Flames.

Earlier today, Lincoln hosted the first game of the 3-game series vs St. Mary's. Game was tied 2-2 going into the 7th. With 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd for the Rams in the top of the 7th, Lincoln chose to intentionally walk Christian Almanza to load the bases and face Dillon Tatum. Tatum, one of the Rams top hitters, flied out on one of many pop-ups the Rams handed to the Trojans in this game, and Lincoln escaped the huge threat. Earlier, Almanza was handed first base twice on two HBP's. He grounded out in his only AB. Lincoln, with 2 outs and a runner on 3rd, also had its chance to win the game in regulation, but they too popped out with Christian Almanza making a diving catch in foul territory in front of the Rams dugout (play of the day) to send the game to extra innings. St. Mary's went on to win the game scoring in the 8th. Rams pitcher, Dylan Fagundes, pitched a complete game (going 8 innings) limiting the Trojans to 2 runs on 5 hits. He also helped himself out with 2 hits (including a double) and 1 RBI. Sam Bones, Lincoln's pitcher, pitched well, too, going 7 innings and limiting the Rams to 2 runs early (1st inning), keeping the Trojans in the game.

With the Rams victory, St. Mary's clinched the TCAL league title. Lincoln needed to sweep the series to tie for the TCAL league title. The rivalry continues tomorrow at St. Mary's with the Rams recognizing their seniors (last league home game).

Game 2: St. Mary's 12 Lincoln 0 final. Game ended due to 10-run mercy rule after the top of the 5th. The Rams scored 8 runs in the 3rd inning and gave up only 3 hits thru 5 innings behind the arms of Sanguinetti and Nordell, who closed the 5th. In the 3rd, Anthony Hernandez had a based loaded base clearing double to lead the team with 3 RBI's. Christian Almanza went 2 for 3 with two doubles (one down the right field line and the other towards the left field line) to go with 2 RBI's.

Game 3 is tomorrow at Lincoln (senior game for the Trojans).

SJS D1 playoffs to start 5/15. St. Mary's projected to be the #1 seed.

BTW, got a look at Christian's bruised thigh today from the back to back HBP he endured against Lincoln on Monday. The bruise is HUGE!!! But, he had no problem today running off this leg, scoring 2 times, just like his teammate Jordan Hernandez. Eight other Rams scored a run each.
